On 03/07/2023 the Watertown Police Department investigated a driving while

intoxicated incident involving Watertown City Police Officer, Ernest J. Miller. On the
day of the incident, 03/07/23, Officer Miller was on duty, working as a uniformed police
patrol officer for the City of Watertown. Investigation revealed that Officer Miller was
operating a marked Watertown patrol vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. The
blood alcohol content (BAC) was determined by chemical test to be 0.17%. Officer
Miller was relieved of duty that day.

Arrangements were made for Officer Miller to turn himself in upon his return from
leave on 04/07/2023. Officer Miller was arrested at 10:10 am today and was charged with
Driving While Intoxicated (an unclassified misdemeanor). He was processed and released
and is scheduled to appear in City of Watertown Court on 04/26/2023.

Additionally, Officer Miller has been suspended without pay by Watertown City
Manager Kenneth Mix, pending a disciplinary hearing.
