Cable length= -------------- ( m )

Note: d = horizontal distance from elevator to anchoring point. The quantity should be
multiplied by the number of cables that compose each level, except cable length for this varies
according to location of the deadman to which it is anchored. (dT = d1 + d2 + d3 + d4)
On drafts it is necessary only to represent the staying and table of forces. The quantity is
to be considered only when listing for cost estimate.
The tables to be followed on preliminary plans, will give forces on cables and ideal
distance (di) for their anchorage.
Each cable will have it's own ideal distance, it being possible to vary in a certain interval
N1 = HT - h1 - P
N1 = HT - h1 - hP - P
8.1.4 - After identification of N1, determine in the table the number of levels your
elevator will have.
8.1.5 - Go to graphs and locate N1 and distance to deadmen (di). This can vary
(>di, <di) according to design requirements. The distance "di" is determined according to the
angle.
8.1.6 - Locate and identify the deadmen on the plan (ground view), obeying the
table distances (di).
8.1.7 - Determine forces on cables according to level and defined distance (>di,
<di).

LEVEL CONTROL
IMPORTANT COMMENTS
1. When a Belt Conveyor has two drives, a Manual and/or Automatic Tensioner should not
be used, but instead two Return Branch Tensioners near the drives.
2. When a Belt Conveyor has a MOBILE Loading Hopper, two trestles with their
respective rollers should be added for each loading point.
3. Additional rollers and trestles to be mounted at 4.0m intervals are already considered
on Continuous Troughs.
5. When an inclined Belt Conveyor is used, always recalculate the power requirement,
and install some antireversing brake to avoid the belt with product running backwards.
6. When a Belt Conveyor is reversible with only one drive, a final chute should be added
according to the tensioner to be installed (manual or automatic).

2 - If coated belts are ordered, they will be MASTERPEN with GENERAL 1/8" x 1/16"
coating, with 2 plies, or 1/16" x 1/16" according client specification. Application: products of Low
and Medium Abrasion - grain size up to 4" - materials with low cutting power and medium impact.
(Temperatures up to 80°C.)
3 - If the product to be moved is oily, acid, alkaline, unctuous or citric, then the coating
should be NOR 1/8" x 1/16". (Temperatures up to 60°C)
NOTES: 1 - When a coated belt is to be used, take into account the cost difference.
BELT CODES:
A CTR with a length of up to 99.5m will have only one drive, and the tension adjuster will
be indicated in the tables of the normal Belt Conveyors (CT) Users Manual.
CTRs of more than 100m should have two drives of equal power and two tension
adjusters near to the drives.
To determine the power for a CTR, use the same calculation procedure as for a normal CT.
On a CTR where two drives are needed, any kind of drive may be used (belt, chain,
gearmotor or speed reducer).
EXAMPLE:
To calculate the power of a 51m long CT-16" with the following accessories
POW 1 = (0.038 x L) + 2
Considering that the above-described CT is tilted 5º upwards, the power to be added will
be:
L = 51 m H = tan 5º x 51
Q = 60 t/h H = 4.46 m
H = tan x L + 60 x 4.46
POWER 2 =-----------------------= 0.99

The flow sequences shown for several products are for your guidance.
BRAN
1 - Storage in corrugated sheet steel Elevated Silos (standard)
A silo built of corrugated sheet steel can be used for all those bran products with low
cohesion properties as well as a low grease content. Don't use them with "Soy bran" just after oil
extraction. These silos are better used as "Intermediate” or "Holding” silos in the industrial
processing of animal feed. The funnel will always have a 60° inclination and, as consequence, the
silo structure should be recalculated.
In case of doubts, we suggest the sending of a sample of the product to be stored to our
Engineering Department.
- We recommend the use of our elevated silos, models 09' up to 18', with a maximum
height of 06 rings.
2- Conveyor Speed
- Chain Conveyors to 0.4 m/s, or with normal speed but with the discharge funnel
enlarged to allow product flow.
- The most recommended equipment to move bran products is: Chain Conveyors, TPLA
(Blade Conveyors), Screw Conveyors and Elevators (F line) with specific features for this
purpose. The use of Belt Conveyors is recommended only for pelletized products, otherwise the
bran tends to stick to the belt, where it could cause serious food contamination problems.
- The use of a belt scraper is recommended, mainly if used with fatty animal feed.
(Remember our recommendation to use belts only with pelletized produts.)
- Bran products, being considered edible elements, therefore also food, normally do not
have a long storage term.
BELT CONVEYOR: The standard equipment can be used, but with rubber coated rollers
and coated belt.
SCREW CONVEYOR: Standard equipment, filling at 45°, with displacement factor (K) =
3.5 for power calculation.
BUCKET ELEVATORS: Should be chain elevators with speeds similar to those used for
seeds.
