I. OBJECTIVES

A. Content Standards: The learner understands the relationship between the

visible constellations in the sky and Earth’s position along its orbit.

B. Performance Standards: The learner discusses whether or not popular

beliefs and practices with regard to constellations and astrology have
scientific basis.

C. Learning Competencies/Objectives:

During and after 55 minutes, at least 75% of the students are expected to:

1. Identify and describe the different patterns in the sky;

2. Understand the causes of patterns in the sky;
3. Use observations to make predictions;
4. Connect patterns in the sky to cultural practices; and
5. Appreciate the beauty and wonder of the sky.

The teacher will present the new lesson through powerpoint presentation that will
be presented through the use of smart television in the classroom.
The teacher will have a concept web or map diagram wherein it is a strategy
which can be used by the teachers to the students to connect prior knowledge
and experiences to new information.
The teacher will ask the students about what patterns of star they know and see
in the sky during night time.
Key Concepts: Patterns in the night sky appear to move in the course of the
night because of Earth’s rotation.
Key Concepts: Different star patterns are seen at different times of the year
because of the Earth’s movement around the sun.
The teacher will ask the students to discuss on their own what is the patterns in
the sky all about.
The teacher will give a seatwork like an essay about the patterns in the sky that
will be answered by the students.
The teacher will sum up the whole discussion so that the students will fully
understand their lesson and retain all the information on their mind.
The teacher will give a quiz or an assessment to the students to test if they really
understood their lesson or topic.
The teacher will give an assignment to the students about their lesson or topic.
