I. OBJECTIVES

A. Content Standards: The learner understands the relationship between the


visible constellations in the sky and Earth’s position along its orbit.

B. Performance Standards: The learner discusses whether or not popular


beliefs and practices with regard to constellations and astrology have
scientific basis.

C. Learning Competencies/Objectives:

During and after 55 minutes, at least 75% of the students are expected to:

1. Identify and describe the different patterns in the sky;


2. Understand the causes of patterns in the sky;
3. Use observations to make predictions;
4. Connect patterns in the sky to cultural practices; and
5. Appreciate the beauty and wonder of the sky.
