b. status
c. occupation
d. Grade level
e. Strand/course
2. Are you a working student? (yes or no)

5. What are the effects of financial problems to students
academic performance?

Literature Review There has been a lot of research and studies conducted under the
wing of financial problems. In the era of modern period, financial
literacy plays a vital role in student’s financial circumstances. Students
are often uneducated and unguided when it comes to finances
(Beierlein & Neverett, 2013; Goetz et al., 2011; Gudmunson et al.,
2015; Markovich & DeVaney, 1997). This results in irresponsible
spending, poor planning, and heavy borrowing, all of which can have
devastating consequences at any point down the line. This shows that
financial literacy is an important factor in student’s finance problems.
It is also well-known that financial problems doesn’t only stem from
poor financial proficiency, but also because of student’s origin of being
born in underprivileged and poverty-stricken family. According to Hill
and Tyson(2009) Parental involvement in education—at home and at
school—has been shown to be an important component of academic
success. It expresses that the higher a parent’s education level is, the
more likely it is for their child’s academic success; as academic
success and financial well-being is positively correlational to each
other. Going by assumptions, we can say that it is more likely for the
poor to stay as poor having no education or financial budget provided.
Proving further the point of importance of finance to not only
students, but as well as people in general.

Research Research Design: Our research design is a Quantitative Research

Methodology using Descriptive Method involving surveys to our respondents while
the research is being conducted.

Population of the Study: Working Students, Non-working Students

Data Collection Methods: Survey Questions

Expected Output Knowing the effects of financial difficulties on students' academic

performance would help and encourage them to learn about budgeting and
financial literacy and how it can help them with their financial situation. If
students are proficient in financial literacy, they can avoid irresponsible
spending, poor planning, and heavy borrowing. At the end of the day, it's all
about spending wisely. Given the limited financial resources, balancing time
between studies and work will be a wise decision when faced with the
decision of continuing education, completing your college degree, and
pursuing your life goals. Financial difficulties are not an impediment to
continuing to attend school and study. A student should be wise enough to
consider alternative modes of transportation to school.
