Challenge
The client needed an upgrade to
the more advanced VRF-system
Multi V III Heat Recovery,
which allows users to reduce
their energy expenditures by
efficiently controlling heating
and cooling.
The Multi V III Heat Pump was selected
to reduce the amount of energy that
was consumed by the HVAC system.
The contract was originally set to
be given to Toshiba. However upon
further review, LG was awarded the
contract because of its superior supply
capabilities and energy efficiency that
its solutions are able to provide. After
the contract was finalized, the client
requested an upgrade to the more
advanced Multi V III Heat Recovery
VRF system, which allows users to
reduce their energy expenditures by
efficiently controlling heating and
cooling. The Multi V III Heat Recovery is
so powerful that one outdoor unit with
a capacity of 58 kW can provide cooling
or heating input for up to 64 indoor
units simultaneously. The Multi V III is
also highly customizable, as multiple
modules can be added. This increases
the total capacity of one outdoor unit
by up to 80 HP (or 224kVt).
LG’s VRF-systems offer an incredible
return on investment, as their energy
efficiency saves consumers money in
the long term. The installation process
began in May 2013, and is scheduled
to be completed in December 2014.
The building’s internal systems will be
introduced in stages, depending on the
content of the building tenants.

hitch, proceeding even faster than
the contractor’s most optimistic
projections. “In December 2014, LG
will wrap up our installation at the
Newton Business Center, and we will
continue to provide close technical
support and maintenance for the
building’s tenants.”
The business center is equipped
with LG’s excellent multi-zone HVAC
systems in order to offer each
individual tenant the performance
that best suits their needs. On the
first floor – a restaurant, a cafe and
a fitness center are all equipped with
a premium set of KPI – connection
kit multi-zone air conditioning
systems. The KPI systems allow the
air conditioners to use the outdoor
units’ Multi V systems as condensing
units (CMC) for ventilation.

If an outer or inner unit is replaced,
LG has made it remarkably simple
to drain refrigerant. It can simply
be pumped through the outdoor
compressor to the corresponding
refrigerant circuit. The simplicity of
this procedure significantly reduces
the time required for repairs.
