Consider the case of a main street with the following generation activities as shown in table below.

The
street is 3500 feet from the edges of the two ended intersections, and the on-street parking is allowed
with parallel parking only at both directions.
1. How many off-street parking bays are needed to satisfy the demand?
2. If the available land for off-street is 25000 sq ft, and each car parking needs 250 sq ft for parking and
maneuver, suggest the type of parking?

Land use per Average generation Actual land use activity

rate size
Residential Dwelling unit 1.2 150
Hotel room 0.91 200
Medical clinic 1000 sq ft GFA 4.33 250000
office 1000 sq ft GFA 2.84 150000
Restaurant 1000 sq ft GFA 17.2 25000
Mosque 1000 sq ft GFA 7.81 2000
Land use per Average Actual land use Demand
generation rate activity size
Residential Dwelling unit 1.2 150 180
Hotel room 0.91 200 182
Medical clinic 1000 sq. ft GFA 4.33 250000 1082.5
office 1000 sq ft GFA 2.84 150000 426
Restaurant 1000 sq ft GFA 17.2 25000 430
Mosque 1000 sq ft GFA 7.81 2000 15.62
2316.12

Total available bays in one side = ((3500- 140)/22)= 152.72 bays or 304 in both direction
Off- street= 2317-304= 2013
The available land no. of parking =25000/250=100 bays
Total require story =2013/100=21 stories ( multi story building)
