for the
Kodak DirectView CR 500 SYSTEM
Service Code: 4366

Modification No. 4
Type 1 Required

Purpose: To install the new REFLECTOR AY, ERASE AY SCREEN GUIDE, ERASE AY TOP COVER,
RP 2 SPRING and BACK DOOR to improve the “Cycle Time” and to upgrade the MCPU software
to version 3.60.09 CP15.

Important
Qualified service personnel must install this modification.
Service Effects: None
Special Requirements: You must:
• have MCPU Software Version 3.60.09 or above
• have Service CD - Kodak DirectView CR 500 SYSTEM 1F8216
• use a TORQUE WRENCH TL-1537 to tighten all TORX SCREWS to:
– 12 in/lbs for T-10 size TORX SCREWS
– 21 in/lbs for T-20 size TORX SCREWS

Installing the Modification

Important
You must:
• install this MODIFICATION KIT before doing SOFTWARE INSTRUCTIONS SI4366-3.
• remove all SCREENS from the CR 500 SYSTEM before doing these procedures.
[1] From the Main Menu, click:

[2] Remove the LEFT SIDE ACCESS PANEL.


[3] Disconnect the ERASE LAMP POWER CORD.

[5] Remove the 2 ERASE LAMPS from the CLIPS.
[6] Discard the 2 ERASE LAMPS.

Important
The 2 end TABS must be bent a small degree to the outside to allow the end TABS to be easily inserted into the holes
at the corners of the ERASE LAMP HOUSING.
[8] To a small degree, bend the 2 end TABS to the outside.

Caution
Do not damage the wires under the LAMP SOCKETS.
[9] Install the new REFLECTOR AY under the LAMP SOCKETS.
[10] Move the 2 end TABS into the holes at the corners of the ERASE LAMP HOUSING.

Important
• Do not damage the LAMP CLIPS.
• You must pull the end TABS to move the REFLECTOR AY.
[11] Place the REFLECTOR AY around the LAMP CLIPS.
[12] Move the REFLECTOR AY toward the BALLAST of the ERASE LAMP HOUSING.
[13] Press down on the REFLECTOR AY.
[14] Use the end TABS to pull the REFLECTOR AY toward the LAMP SOCKETS until the 2 LOCKING TABS are
engaged under the 2 LAMP CLIP MOUNTS.
[15] Bend the 2 end TABS around the center of the ERASE LAMP HOUSING.

The weight of the SLOW SCAN AY is 20 kg (45 lb).

[46] Place the SLOW SCAN AY on the bottom with the PMTs up.
[47] See the graphic and tilt the SLOW SCAN AY 45 degrees to the front.

Important
The RP 2 ROLLER STOP drops into the SLOW SCAN AY when the 2 SCREWS are removed.
[48] Remove and discard the 2 SCREWS.
[49] Lift and shake or use a tool to remove the RP 2 ROLLER STOP from the SLOW SCAN AY.
[50] Discard the RP 2 ROLLER STOP.
[51] Do Steps 46 - 50 again to remove the other RP 2 ROLLER STOP.

[52] Stack the 2 CASSETTES on the flat surface.

Important
The PMTs must not touch the CASSETTES.
[53] Place the SLOW SCAN AY on the edge of the CASSETTES with the PMTs down. See Step 39 on Page 14.

Important
• You must use a TORQUE WRENCH TL-1537 to tighten all TORX SCREWS to:
– 12 in/lbs for T-10 size TORX SCREWS
– 21 in/lbs for T-20 size TORX SCREWS
• The PULLEYS must be installed with the SCREW toward the front of the SLOW SCAN AY.
• To prevent the 2 PULLEYS from falling into the SLOW SCAN AY you must use FORCEPS TL-2042 or equivalent
to hold the 2 PULLEYS when removing the 4 SCREWS.
