THE PRESENT PROGRESSIVE TENSE

It is used to indicate continuing action, something going on now. This tense is formed with the auxiliary
verb "to be" conjugated in the present tense ( eg I am , you are etc) plus the present participle of the
main verb (with an -ing ending)

Examples

1. "I am buying Christmas gifts. ( am + buy +ing)


2. She is working during the holiday break.
3. Mathew and David are reading their books.

Singular Plural

I am walking we are walking

you are walking you are walking

he/she/it is walking they are walking

To sleep

I am sleeping we are sleeping

you are sleeping you are sleeping

he/she/it is sleeping they are sleeping

I am being We are being
