This study aims to look into the perceptions of TESL students towards the use of podcast as a 35.8%

teaching tool in secondary education in Malaysia. In addition, this study also looks into the factors

that influence the perceptions of TESL students regarding podcast as an effective teaching tool. A

PROBLEM STATEMENT
In second language context, there are a few studies that were conducted where they look at 30

how podcasting is used in ESL classrooms. However, when it comes to secondary school

context, there are a limited amount of studies being conducted regarding the use of podcast 20

as a teaching tool in Malaysia. Because of that, there has not been a study concerning the

perceptions of Teaching as a Second Language (TESL) students regarding the use of 10

podcast in ESL classrooms, which should be considered while determining whether to use

teaching tools in the teaching process. Thus, this research is carried out in order to find out

SIGNIFICANCE 50

The findings of this study may benefit the TESL field as it gives of knowledge regarding

perceptions of the use of podcast as teaching tools; regarding the perceptions and factors 40

influencing it when it comes to podcasting in the teaching learning process. Thus, based on the

findings, this study can educate ESL teachers regarding the benefits and significance of

authentic materials. As a result, teachers can prioritise implementing more authentic materials in
