The Last City Sci Standing 2023
1. The Last City Sci Standing is an activity that aims to recognize the different
skills and talents of City Sci students. The title is given to the class with
the highest points earned from all the activities during the 33rd Founding
Anniversary Celebration of the school. This year’s contest includes the
Traditional and Digital Poster Making, Battle of the Brains- Quiz Bee,
Spelling Bee, Extemporaneous Speech, and Battle of Talents.

Rank of each contest
1. Each class shall send only 1 team of students for spelling bee and quiz
bee. Each team must be composed of three (3) students for each contest.
2. The quiz bee questions fall under six (6) different categories: Mathematics,
Science, Social Science, General Information, City Sci Trivia, and Palawan
Trivia. While the words for spelling bee fall under two (2) categories:
English and Filipino.
b. The final stage features show-me boards where the teams will write
their answers and raise up after each question or words in both
contests. These will have 3 rounds: easy, average, and difficult. Only
the top five (5) highest scoring teams will be recognized. In the event
where the top five teams cannot be determined due to multiple
teams having the same number of points, a clincher shall be
provided to fill in the remaining slot(s). A sudden death rule shall
apply: in the case of a two-team tie, the first team to answer a
question correctly will be the team that will be declared as winner.
1. Each class shall have 1 representative for the contest. A draw lots will be
done to determine the order of the participants.
2. The organizer shall give a list of possible topics related to the theme and
present issues a day prior to the start of the competition.
3. The contestants shall be given three (3) minutes to prepare and three (3)
minutes to deliver.
• The contestants are not allowed to have any gadget.
• A timer accessible to the contestant, judges and audience shall be
provided.
• The contest master is accountable to the sanctification of the
competition.
• There will be a 1-point deduction for every 30-second overtime from the
respective judges’ total score before determining the rank of the
contestants.
• The English language will be the medium of communication. The style
of the delivery shall be conversational, oratorical or a combination of
both. Dramatic style is considered disqualified.
4. The contestant should wear his/her school uniform or a business attire.
5. Use of sound effects, personal microphones and props is prohibited.
6. After the deliberation of the members of the board of judges, the judges’
decision is final.
D. Battle of Talents
1. Each class shall have 1 team entry for the contest with a minimum of 5
members.
2. There shall be two phases- the audition stage and the final stage. Only the
upper half of the participating teams shall proceed to the final stage. The
elimination round will use the same criteria with the final round.
3. Each team will showcase a combination of at least three (3) extraordinary
talents and skills of students such as dancing, singing, instrument playing,
magic tricks, acting, etc.
4. Each team is allowed to showcase their talent in 3-4 minutes. There will be a
1-point deduction for every 30-second overtime from the respective judges’ total
score before determining the rank of the contestants.
5. The team may use their creative concept and choice of music, proper attire,
and props. No malicious and/or hazardous acts or props will be allowed.
6. The top 5 teams with the highest scores from the judges will be declared as
winners and will be given due recognition.
7. Criteria for Judging:
• Originality (Choreography, Composition, Creativity - 25 %
and Originality, Style)
• Overall Performance (Skills and Technique, Precision, Timing - 50 %
and Coordination, Showmanship, Mastery)
• Stage Presence (Production Design, Costume, Props, Music) - 25 %
