Task 1a

Learners will plan their roles and activities as per the requirement of project. For
example, if project is based on design of residential building, roles will be:

 Planning and Design team,

 Rate Analysis and Quantity Estimator,

 Development of project summary using Software (Microsoft Project

Planner).

Introduction planning and design team

Proper management of resources is called planning. Planning is one of the core
areas of project construction. Planning in a construction projects is done in order to
work out with quantities required to cover the total scope of project completion schedule
using project management tools like MS project.

A designer is an organization or individual whose business involves preparing or

modifying designs for construction projects, or arranging for, or instructing, others to do
this. Designs include Drawings, Design details, Specifications, Bills of quantity and
design calculations, Architects, Consulting engineers, Quantity surveyors and interior
designers etc.

Roles of Project Members

In order to start a project first of all we decided to make a team and appoint roles
to them. These roles and activities may include:

 Planning and design team

 Rate analysis and quantity estimator
 Project development using Microsoft process planer software.

Task 1b

Learners should formulate specification with regard to constraint. Learners will

have to incorporate following mentions areas in specification:

 Client Brief,
 Technical and non-technical Specification,
 Costs,
 Timescales,
 Standards, code of Practice.

Task 1c

Learners are advised to formulate initial proposal of project and justify the
selection of project with cost, suitability and with environmental impacts.

Project justification
We visited rural area and observed that there is a requirement of school in global
aspect. We perceived that the schools were far apart from village area. The
transportation cost was very high, so therefore most of the children cannot go to school.
We saw that literacy rate at that area was very low.

We visited the nearby school as well. It was not in good condition. There were no
facilities like labs etc. all students of different classes were in same class room. There
was no playground and no proper teaching staff.

As we know that school is a basic requirement of any community. We thought to

build a school in that area. Then we met one person over there, he came from abroad
and was highly qualified. He wanted to make school but he was not having resources.
We recommended him to visit an NGO and human development authority, as they tend
to invest for building a school in that area.
By constructing a school building more students will get education and literacy
rate will also increase. Moreover, students who are already going in school that are far
away from their home can also save their time and transportation cost as well.

Task 2a

Learners will produce complete evidence of project development in the form of

Logbook entries, team minutes of meetings etc.

Learners are advised to produce final design proposal to meet the agreed
specification. Learners will have to incorporate following areas:

 Geotechnical information,
 Project drawings,
 Costings and calculations.
Task 3

Learners are advised to submit complete evaluation report on project and also
include recommendation for further improvement.

Project Making Recommendations for Improvement

In order to enhance the excellence of work associated to time, budget and scope
I recommend to use steel chokaths if required and also use water proofing DPCs in
foundation. Use termite in foundation at the binging of the project and also use it for the
second time before floor PCC.

Increase the size of footing because if column is being jacketed, the transfer of
load from column to footing becomes easy. In non-technical specification I recommend
that the better quality doors can be used, such as “diyar wood”. This will also not affect
the cost. It also gives a good aesthetic look.

Moreover, the diameter and number of steel bars should be according to the
design. Furthermore, weather sheet paints can be used in the external walls of a house
as it is water resistant. I will also recommend fiber optic wire cables for an electrical
wiring.
