Course Title: Statistics Lab –II L T P/ SW/ TOTAL

Course Code: STAT112 S FW CREDIT
Credit Units: 2 UNITS
Level: UG 0 0 2 0 1

# Course Title
1 Course Objectives:
The purpose of the course is to develop knowledge of the
fundamental Statistical tools to handle quantitative data. The
application of these tools lies with the problems encountered in
analysis and decision making. The students will be able to
distinguish between probability models appropriate to different
chance events and calculate probability according to these
methods.
2 Prerequisites:
NIL
3 Student Learning Outcomes:
 Students will learn to solve the practical problems.
Course Contents/Syllabus: Weightage (%)
4 Module I: Fitting of discrete probability distributions 20
Fitting of Binomial Distribution, Fitting of Poisson Distribution,
Fitting of Negative Binomial Distribution.
5 Module II: Fitting of continuous probability distributions 20
Fitting of Exponential Distribution, Fitting of Normal Distribution,
Fitting of Appropriate Distribution.
6 Module III: Simple, Stratified and Systematic random

7 Module IV: Ratio and regression estimator 30
Ratio and regression estimator Estimation of population mean
and total variances of estimates and estimates of these variances
for ratio and regression method of estimation, comparison of the
estimates with SRS.
8 Pedagogy for Course Delivery:
The class will be taught using practical methods by using
calculator in a separate Lab sessions. In addition to numerical
applications, the real life problems and situations will be assigned
to the students and they are encouraged to get a feasible solution.
