- are the direct result of a natural disaster, those effects that come directly
from the
incident or disaster itself

Effects can also be classified into:
Effects to people: Effects to homes:
- stress - damaged houses (no roof,
- psychological trauma washed away, etc.)
- mental health problems - can’t fix houses due to little or
no savings)
Effects to infrastructure:
- unavailability of primary services to the community
- example: damaged hospital, destroyed infrastructure
means damaged ATMs, stores, etc.

Effects to economy:
- business may be displaced
- cannot engage in commerce anymore
- economic damage
