TEACHER’S ACTIVITY

STUDENTS’

All students will stand up and pray.Good Morning Sir. All students will take their seats

Okay class I have here a picture (a picture ofrainbow). What can you say about thispicture? Anyone
from the class?Yes, Kate?Correct. So what can you say now about therainbow?Yes Kyle?Correct.
The rainbow has many differentcolors. Do you think a rainbow could still existwithout these different
colors?Yes. These 7 different colors make a rainbowexist. Just like us, we have differences. Andthese
differences exist in the biosphere. Thus, our topic this morning is all about Biodiversity. But before that,
let us be guided by our lessonobjectives. Everybody please read ourobjectives.None Sir.Yes Sir.That
picture is a rainbow Sir.The rainbow has 7 different colors Sir.No Sir.

 (students will read the objectives)
Objectives:
At the end of the lesson the students shall beable to:a. Explain correctly biodiversity through
watch-pair-share activity.b. Differentiate comprehensively the 3 levels ofbiodiversity namely species
diversity, geneticdiversity, and ecosystem diversity through a 3-column chart.c. Suggest creatively
solutions on how to protectbiodiversity through paint me a picture.
B. DEVELOPMENTAL ACTIVITIES1. ACTIVITY
Yes Sir.(Students will take note the guided questions)Yes Sir.(Students will choose their pair)Yes Sir.In
order for us to have a meaningful discussion, let us have first an activity. But before that, are you ready
to listen?Okay, the first thing you do is you are going towatch the video clip that I am going to
presentwith you. While watching the video clip I want youto answer the ff. questions. Please take note it
first. Are you done copying class?Okay, after watching the video, you are going tochoose your
partner. Please choose your partnernow. Are you done choosing your pair?

Okay. Please watch this video first.Watching Time (the video clips contain a little bitexplanation about
biodiversity and its levels)Now the video is over.
I think it’s time to discuss your answers with
yourpartner based on the guide questions. I only allowyou to do the sharing time within 3 minutes.
Andafter that, I will ask certain student randomlyabout the video presented.(Sharing time)Okay class
your time is over.(all students will watch the video)(All students will discuss one another)
2. ANALYSIS
-Biodiversity is short term for biologicaldiversity.-Biodiversity talks about variety of organismsin terms of
gene, living in different habitats orecosystem. The three main types of biodiversity are:species diversity,
genetic diversity, andecosystem diversity. The video presented talks about biodiversity, sowhat is
biodiversity?Yes, Katrina?Okay, what else?Correct. According to many biologists,Biodiversity is the
sum of all the different speciesof animals, plants, fungi and microbial organismsliving on Earth and the
variety of habitats in whichthey live. What about the three main types of biodiversity?Yes, Joy?Correct.
Based on the video, who among of youhere can explain to me what is the term species?Yes? Ian?

Correct, species refers to a group of organismsthat have distinct traits. However, when
youencountered
“species diversity”
, what does itmean?Yes? Maylene?Okay. Thank you. Species diversity is just simplytalks about
different kinds of organisms. Forexample. The species of dog is far different fromthe species of
bird.Did you get class?Okay, Now, who among of you here can explainto me about second type or
level of biodiversity, which is the genetic diversity?Yes, Karl?Very good. Genetic diversity talks
aboutdifferences among species of organisms in termsof gene they contain. Although all organisms
inthe same species are quite related to each other, but they are not 100% identical. Thus,
everyspecies of organism is unique. For example, aspecies of beetle. Are all beetles the same interms
of color and physical traits?Okay. And even the color trait would reveal thatcertain beetle is different
from the other beetle. And that is the concept of genetic diversity. What about the third one?
who can explain to mewhat is an ecosystem diversity? Anyone?Yes, Keith? According to
the video, a species is a groupof genetically distinct organism that can haveoffspring.Species
diversity refers to variety of organismin terms of their species.Yes Sir.Genetic diversity refers to
differences amongorganisms in terms of gene.No Sir. An ecosystem diversity talks
aboutdifferences of organism in terms of theirhabitat in which they live in.

Very good. An ecosystem diversity talks about thedifferent kinds of places where organisms live
andthe dynamic interconnections between them. Forexample, animals that live in the dessert
hasdistinct adaptation compare to animals that live inthe forest. Meaning to say they differ in terms
oflocation or habitat. Are the concepts about biodiversity clear to youclass?Very good.Okay.
Now, allow me to divide the class into 5groups
, let’s start counting here. 1…6
Now, go to your respective groups and follow thisillustration. Are all set within their
respective group?Okay. Please listen to my instructions first. In thisactivity, you are going to
differentiate speciesdiversity, genetic diversity and ecosystemdiversity through this 3-column chart.Yes
Sir.(students will count themselves)Yes Sir.

You are only allowed to finish the task within 5minutes and afterwards, each group must have
tochoose a presenter. . Are all my instructions clear to you class?Okay. Your time starts
now.Yes Sir.(activity time)
3. ABSTRACTION
(students will clap themselves and return totheir proper seats)(students will read writings in the 3-
columnchart)Please finish your task as fast as you can
because your time will end in 10, 9, 8, 7………..1,0. Time’s up!
Ok group 1 please report your output.Thank you group presenters. Let us give them abarangay clap.
Please return to your properseats.Okay class here is my 3-column chart showingthe differences
among three types or levels ofbiodiversity. Everyone please read.

Are the three types of biodiversity cleared to youclass?Yes Sir.
4. APPLICATION
Yes Sir.(students will group themselves)Yes Sir.Since you already explain biodiversity anddifferentiate
its definition. I want you to expressThe benefits of biodiversity through paint me apicture.Okay class
please listen to my instructions first. Are you ready to listen?
This activity is called “paint me a picture”.
Groupings in previous activity will merge. Group 1and 2 will merge same with groups 3 and 4, then5
and 6. Therefore, there should be three groupsall in all. At my left side is the place for group 1 atmy
right side is the group 3 and at the center isthe group 2. Go to your respective group nowsilently. Are
all set within their group?Okay. I am going to project a certain scenarioabout problems regarding
biodiversity. In thisactivity you are going to suggest certain solutionon how to address that problem
through paint mea picture or tableau. You are only allowed toportray each of the benefits of
biodiversity in 20

seconds. Afterwards, each must have to choose arepresentative to explain it, if none, I will
callsomeone to explain the concept being depicted. Are all my instructions clear to you class?
Criteria for judging.Content

 10 pointsCreativity
 –
 5 points.Total: 15 points
Your time will end in ….. 10, 9, 8 ….2,1, 0.
Let us start with group 1. Any representative fromthe group?(the teacher observes and evaluates
using thecriteria)Okay. Kindly clap yourselves for a job well done. And please return to
your proper seats. Here are the results of your output. On the other hand, group 1 got the highest
score.Let us clap ourselves for them. Each of you willhave an additional three points for your quiz.Did
you learn today class?Yes Sir.(G1,G2, AND G3 will prepare)(any representative among each group
willexplain)(depicting of concepts may vary)(students will clap themselves)Yes Sir.
The world has been suffering fromglobal warming. Sea level rises dueto melting of ice caps in arctic
regionsuch as North Pole and South Polewhich cause many islands tosubmerge and some
species ofpolar bears got extinct.tWhat are some ways can you helpreduce global warming?

And since did you learn something today let ushave an evaluation.
