1. GENERAL

1.1 PURPOSE AND SCOPE

This specification applies to the manufacturing of Gaskets to be used for Sulfur Facilities for the
North Field Expansion (NFXP) Project - EPC-4.

Gaskets shall be supplied in accordance with the latest applicable codes, standards and
specifications listed in Para. 1.2 and the additional requirements of this specification shall also
be applied.

1.2 REFERENCES

The latest edition as of April-2022 of the codes and standards shall be applied.

1.3 DEFINITION

ORDER to provide materials or equipment

2. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

2.1 DESIGN / DIMENSIONS

1) Gaskets shall be in accordance with the following ASME Standards.

• Spiral wound gasket /Ring Joint Gasket : ASME B16.20

• Non-Metallic gasket : ASME B16.21

2) Gaskets dimensions shall meet the following flange standards.

• For NPS 24 and smaller : ASME B16.5

• For NPS 26 to NPS 60 : ASME B16.47 series B

3) “EXP- GRAPHITE” gaskets shall be made by Flexible graphite, mechanically bonded to

a type 316 stainless steel tanged insert.

4) When “F-JKT” (For Full Jacketed flange, 2-size designation) is defined in the material
description, outside diameter of gasket shall meet to larger size while inside diameter to
smaller size.

5) Ring joint gaskets shall be made fully in accordance with the material description (sharp,
material spec and maximum hardness)

6) Sheet gasket shall be one-piece type. Separate type (dove-tail type) shall not be applied.

7) Outer ring shall be provided for all spiral wound gaskets. When “W/IOR” is specified in
the material description, inner shall be also provided as specified in material descriptions.

2.2 POSITIVE MATERIALS IDENTIFICATION (PMI)

Positive materials identification shall be performed in accordance with Spec. 12-00-CE-SPC-

00012 " COMMON NFXP4 Positive Material Identification ".

2.3 MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS

1) Asbestos shall not be used

2) Leachable chlorite in flexible graphite material shall be less than 100 ppm for flexible
graphite filler for spiral-wound gaskets and EXP-GRAPHITE gasket.

3) All gasket materials shall be in accordance with the material description

4) When “HIGH-TEMP-SERVICE” is defined in the material description, gasket including

filler and winding metal shall be suitable for temperature up to 500 ºC.

3. TESTS AND INSPECTIONS

Vendor shall conduct tests and / or inspections in accordance with the relevant codes and
standards listed in Para. 1.2 and the additional requirements of this specification together with
the following:

1) Vendor shall perform tests and / or inspections under Vendor 's own
quality control and shall provide sound quality products.

2) Vendor has the responsibility of providing CONTRACTOR's inspector with all specified
information, and the inspector shall have free access to witness or audit Vendor 's quality
control at Vendor 's facilities throughout the time while work on the products is being
executed, as deemed necessary.

4. MATERIAL CERTIFICATION / MARKING

1) Type “B” or "3.1" certificate shall be required in accordance with Spec. 12-00-QM-
SPC-00001 “COMMON NFXP4 Specification for Certification, Marking and
Traceability of Materials".

2) Color Coding for spiral-wound gasket and glass reinforced PTFE gaskets shall be in
accordance with Spec. 12-00-PI-SPC-00007 “COMMON NFXP4 Piping - Color
Coding for Material Identification”

3) Gaskets shall be marked in accordance with the requirements of relevant codes. The
centre ring of each gasket shall be permanently marked by stamping or etching with
letter of minimum height 2.5 mm. In addition to applicable code and standard, following
information shall be included with centering ring markings;

a) Contractor’s Ident code

b) Vendor’s name or trademark

c) Flange size

d) Rating designation

e) Core ring metal specification

f) Covering layer material

5. OTHERS

1) This specification has priority over the others specified in the applicable documents.

2) Manufacturing shall submit manufacturing, test, inspection and welding procedures for
CONTRACTOR's approval prior to manufacturing.

3) All conflicts among the requirements of this specification, related specifications,

standards, codes and CONTRACTOR’s requisition shall be referred to CONTRACTOR
in writing for clarification before proceeding with manufacturing.

4) The use of refurbished and re-use of metallic materials is prohibited.

5) Rust preventive shall be in accordance with Spec. NFXP4-TWJV-CM-PLN-00008

“Preservation Plan”.
