Song Analysis

Banal na Aso, Santong Kabayo - Yano

The Song “Banal na Aso Santong Kabayo” by Yano is not just a song to listen

when we are bored or sad but a song that contains deeper meaning in its lyrics. It talks

about the hypocrisy of the people wherein they do not practice what they preach. In

today’s generation, people repent on their sins but after a while ago, they will act like

they did nothing. Moreover, they are criticizing others without looking at their own flaws.

Part of the lyric is the woman who is praying rosary but the moment it experiences

disruption, she says profanity. It is evident in today’s time that there are people

everywhere who proclaim the teachings of God but actually, they are not doing what

they are saying to other people. They are acting as if they are true believers of God

when actually they are not.

On the other hand, I once become a hypocrite, I am serving in the church yet my

actions are not good. One time, as I return home after I go to church, brother borrow

something from me then I didn’t lend him the thing he was borrowing and says profanity

to him.

In conclusion, the song makes me realized that I must know and watch my own

values before criticizing others. I’ve learned that when I speak kindness/ words of God,

my actions are connected with it. In addition, it made me realize to walk my talk. After

all, we are all children of God so, every time we hurt or do something wrong to others,

God is also hurting. As a friendly reminder, we should act upon our words and avoid
being one of the hypocrites’ religious persons, as I’ve said, we should walk our talk and

not talk the talk or walk the walk!
