Discussion

I considered those listed in the SWOT as strength, weakness, opportunities


and threats because those were accurately based from the result of the interview and
also from our observation on the current situation of our barangay and our
neighborhood on how they made their success in swine production management.
The people here have knowledge and some have already experience in swine
production. Their goal is to reach success with efficient management in swine
production even the required labor force and effort is 100%. The availability of water
and organic resources are sufficient and properly utilized. In addition to that, we
observed that our area has at least one-road side store that buy swine for slaughter
and sale, not to mention that there are also road-side stores in the nearby barangays
and the market is also in nearby location. These advantages have made the feasibility
of swine production possible in our area.

I think proper and efficient management should be the first thing to do.
Attending seminars, trainings, etc. is also a crucial way to increase knowledge, achieve
readiness and prevention to possible threats and weaknesses one may encounter so
that he will be able to reduce the impacts of the threats and weaknesses. Also one
should done a research as an additional resource in order for his pigpen to not
threaten the community’s health and environment. In these ways, he might be able
to address the weakness and threats of swine industries. Thereby, contribute to the
increase in opportunities. Since there is rapid growth of population in the world,
there might be a chance to have insufficient food distribution. Therefore, as a way to
overcome that issue, more farmers should engage in swine production management
so that there is an increase of stores and businesses in the area to meet more
demand, livelihood incomes and
high economy. Also food safety is ensured so that the consumers would not hesitate
to buy swine produce.

Swine production and management is proven to have better success in the life
of many Filipinos. According to farmers here in our barangay, swine production has
many advantages so, maybe, in the future I will be also deciding to engage in swine
production since it has high demand in our country and provide quick returns and
investments
