BUILDING A RUBRIC

Outcomes
You should be able to:
• create a rubric
• edit the criteria
• edit level
• enter the description of each level
• allocate scores for the rubric
• edit the overall score
• allocate marks for overall score

STEP 1: On the mytutord2l.tut.ac.za homepage, Click on the course selector, and


select the appropriate course.

STEP 2: On the navbar, Click on Course Tools link, then from the dropdown list,
select Course Admin. The Course Administration page is displayed.

STEP 3: From the Course Administration page, locate the Assessment category,
and from it Click on the Rubrics tool. The Rubric page is displayed.

STEP 4: Click on the New Rubric button to create a new rubric.

The rubric template is displayed. Take note that the default rubric type is Analytic.

STEP 5: Enter the appropriate name of your rubric.

Fill-in all the criteria for the rubric. You might also want to add more or
remove the criteria.

Levels can also be added or removed if you so wish.

A complete analytic rubric will look more or less as shown below:

STEP 6: Expand the options to set: Rubric Visibility, Score Visibility, Description,
and Advanced Availability properties.
