COLLECTIONS – MUSEUM FOR KEELADI ARTEFACTS. Keezhadi is an archaeological site located in sivaganga district, Madurai. Which turned out to be a sensational news after ASI (archaeological survey of India) carried out explorations and unearthed artifacts that belonged to 200BC. The excavations conducted so far on just one out of 100 acres of land had led to discovery of 11,470 artefacts pointing to the existence of an ancient Tamil civilisation that could have thrived on the banks of Vaigai. This excavation will have a serious effect of rewriting the history of country. The State government has also showed interest in setting up a museum at Keezhadi to display the antiquities that have been unearthed so far and has even offered to allot 72 cents of land for the same. The Tamil official language and Tamil culture and archaeology minister Mr. Thangam thennarasu said that the Tamil nadu government is going to establish a world class archaeological museum in Thoothukudi.
Scope of the project:
MUSEUM FOR KEELADI is a live unbuilt project that has more scopes and expectation from people. And it is one the project that many people are awaiting for. And the officials also mentioned this museum will house semi-open areas and OAT where art performances, crafts workshops and traditional games would take place. There are plans to screen documentaries of keeladi excavation on the audio-visual hall, which would accommodate up to 100 people.
Intent of the project:
This keeladi museum with artifacts belonging to ancient Tamil civilisation would help to showcase our history and cultural heritage in a better way to the world. A museum designed in such a way that it enhances the way people perceive. This building will showcase the solid evidence of a story spanning thousands of years of ancient civilisation and its cultural heritage. The design of the museum itself will blend with the ancient history and culture to make the users experience the sangam period (200BC). PROJECT - 2 CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL – CHILDREN FRIENDLY HEALTHCARE DESIGN A children's hospital is a hospital that offers its services exclusively to infants, children, adolescents, and young adults from birth up to age 18. Children's hospitals are characterized by greater attention to the psychosocial support of children and their families. Scope of the project: Hospital is not a place we visit out of joy, visiting hospitals are scarier and even depressing most of the times. Hospital can be scarier even for adults. So, designing a hospital space that is child friendly and provides a comfortable environment for the child would help in many ways. Number of children’s hospitals are less compared to the hospitals meant for adults. So a children’s hospital designed according to the child’s physiological factors is needed the most.
Intent of the project:
Children’s hospitals have been one of the most challenging designs. As the hospital is the last place a child might want to go. So making hospitals less scary and motivating the children to accept the care is one of the biggest psychological challenge. A children’s hospital design should offer a homely comfort while bringing the outside facilities (school, playground areas, social rooms, etc.) to the inside. In relation to hospital typology.
