1. Given the total weight of a vehicle is 55000 N. If the distance between the center of front
wheels and center of rear wheels, L is 4.35 m and 2600 kg mass of the vehicle is incurred by
the front wheel of a vehicle. Calculate:
i) Distance between the center of front wheel to center of gravity, Lf
ii) Distance between the center of rear wheel to center of gravity,Lr.
Support your answer with complete free body diagram of the vehicle.
2. A 4x4 Nissan Navara mass of 2910 kg performing full stop from 110.0 km/h on a level surface
with a brake application that develops a steady brake force of 22000 N. Investigate the result
for:
i) Deceleration.
ii) Stopping distance.
iii) Time to stop.
3. Given that :
Diberi bahawa :
Tire spring rate 1350 kg/cm
Front suspension rate 28.14 kg/cm
Rear suspension rate 20.60kg/cm
Mass 3450 kg
Mass front 1850kg
Mass rear 1600kg
Calculate:
i. Front suspension ride rate, RRf and bounce natural frequency, wn .
ii. Rear suspension ride rate, RRf and bounce natural frequency, wn .
4. A Superbike Kawasaki Z1000 with mass 221.0 kg turn on the curve road with velocity of 22.22
m/s. The distance from front tire to center of gravity, b and distance from rear tire to center of
gravity, c are respectively 0.629 m and 0.806 m. Calculate:
i. Cornering force at rear, Fyr.
ii. Cornering force at front, Fyf.
Given radius of the turn is 0.500 m.
5. Investigate the length of contact patch for the tire footprint of a passenger car at normal
loading condition if the radial stiffness, c R = 265N/m and the inflated radius are, r o=316.9mm
respectively. (Assume Fz = 4700N)
6. A car has camber angle of 10.5º and develop a fully contact and partial contact deflection on the
tire. The initial radius of tire, Ro is 0.4 m and deflected radius, Rs is 0.26 m. Given that width
of tire, b is 0.33 m. Calculate tire deflection area for fully contact at 10.5º and partial contact.
