PCA-Choosing an Organization Worksheet

Worksheet Objectives:
1. Identify an organization and situation you want to study over the remainder of the course.
2. Describe the organization and the situation

Complete the following making sure to support your ideas and cite from the textbook and other
course materials per APA guidelines. After the peer review, you have a chance to update this and
format for your Electronic Portfolio due in Module 6.

1) Name and describe your organization.

The organization that I am going to discuss in this project is Major League Fishing. This
is a bass fishing tournament organization that runs tournaments at various levels across
the United States. I personally have participated in some of their events and have some
understanding of how the organization works and how it is structured. The organization
puts on hundreds of events throughout the year and is a mult-million dollar company that
relys on sponsorships, television airings, and angler entry fees/memberships to keep the
lights on.

2) Describe your role in the organization (it can be an internal or external role).

The role that I am going to assume for this project is the Tackle Warehouse Invitational
tournament director. This role is responsible for managing all things that have to do with
the Invitational tournament trail from solving any issues that come up throughout the year
to announcing and doing weigh ins. I am also the person that everyone calls when they
have issues that pertain to the Invitational’s.

3) Describe the situation, including information you think the will help the reader
understand the most important elements of the situation. (This will require
selectivity: part of the art of case writing is separating the essential facts from the
mass of information that might be included).

The situation that I will discuss throughout the term is the split that happened in 2020
when Major League Fishing announced it’s new tournament trail, the Bass Pro Tour. This
split caused a big disruption in the bass fishing world because it caused some of the
biggest pros to have to pick what tournament trail they would fish and how to qualify. At
the time there were two major tournament trails for professional anglers, the Bassmaster
Elite Series, and the now Tackle Warehouse Invitationals. With the introduction of a new

1
trail that advertised no entry fees and high payouts, there was a tense divide between pros
on where they were going to fish in the new year and why some anglers were invited to
the new tour and why some weren’t.
