Statement of Intent: Address the following questions for your individual project.

·What type of project will you be doing: youth internship, entrepreneurship experience, senior
experience, or the service learning project?
Youth Internship
·Describe the steps you will need to do to complete your project
1. Meet- Communicate with a hospital (Sanford, Avera, etc.) about my project/internship.
2. Electronic Portfolio (website)- create an online Weebly website to document all of your steps
in your Senior experience.
3. Log my process on Twitter- Twitter will serve as my journal or diary. I will tweet regularly
about my project explaining about my projects progress. Pictures will also be included.
4. Research paper- 10 pages of research writing plus a title page, abstract and bibliography.
This is the time I write about my experience and explain the subject(s) or topic(s) I will learn
about.
5. Mentor Experience- This is who will be working with me throughout the project. Spending
time with my mentor and documenting my experience highlights are included.
6. Create exhibit board- After the completion of an exhibit board, it will be displayed at the
Rutland Project Fair. This will show all the work that I have completed during the project
time of 6-9 months.
7. Presentation- This is when I will be giving my presentation to a panel of judges. This will in-
clude questions like “What have you learned?” Keeping in mind that your board demon-
strates effort, learning, and mastery of skill.
8. Process paper- Writing a paper (4 paragraphs) that fully explains a set of questions.
9. Reflection- Creating a page on my Weebly website after the final step of my project of pre-
senting to a panel of judges, and writing a reflection of the entire project to publish.
.·What subject(s) or topic(s) do you expect to learn about through your experience?
Learning exactly what the nurse’s role is in providing care to laboring and postpartum patients.
·What skills or understanding will you develop and/or demonstrate?
During my time spent as an intern, I hope to develop and demonstrate teamwork, planning/prior-
itizing, decision making/problem solving, patients and verbal communication.

·What kind of product do you envision?

Throughout my Internship I will gain knowledge and understanding in the field of Labor and De-
livery.
·Where would you look for a mentor?
I have reached out to my mentor and I will be working with Carol Anderson who has been a la-
bor and delivery nurse at Sanford for almost 40 years.
·What do you hope to learn about yourself?
I hope to learn that this career path is fitting for my future. Receiving this opportunity will allow
me to expand my communication, teamwork, and networking within the medical field.
·What most excites you about your proposed Endeavor?
What most excites me is having the opportunity to experience what I want to pursue in my fu-
ture. I will find out if its truly what I want to do. Having hands on experience and dealing with
patients and other professionals in the real world, is something I am looking forward to doing.
