B. Establishing a purpose for

the lesson

What did you notice in these

pictures?
C. Presenting examples/ Simple Machine
instances of the new lesson.

Machines have been used since

ancient times. People have been
challenged ever since to develop
these machines that will make work
lighter and less difficult.
Machines are not only seen in
factories. They can be found
everywhere. In your home, the
utensils your mother uses when she
cooks are considered simple
machines. Your school supplies like
your scissors, sharpeners, and even
your pencil are also simple
machines. A playground like the
photo shown above has quite a
number of simple machines. The
seesaw, swings, and slides are also
simple machines.
There are six simple machines: the
lever, wheel and axle, inclined
plane, wedge, screw, and pulley.
These machines have a variety of
functions, but the common thing
about them- they make our tasks
easier. This chapter will discuss
more about simple machines how
and why they are put together to
form complex machines and the
precautionary measures that should
be remembered when working with
these machines.

E. Discussing new concepts and Directions: Match the simple machines in
practicing new skills.#2 Column A with its characteristics uses in
Column B.

A B

a. It is round with a
rope and is used to
raise and lower loads
easier.

b. It is flat and has

sloping surface and
is used co connect a
lower level to a
higher level.
c. It is long with a
handle and is used to
remove dirt.
F. Developing Mastery Directions: Identify the type of simple
