Intertextuality and Gothic Elements: Coraline


Multimodal Presentation/ Response

Task: Students will watch and study the film ‘Coraline’ and analyse the use of
intertextuality. They will also analyse the use of film techniques and how these have
been used to strengthen the gothic themes and ideas presented to an audience.

Students will create a multimodal presentation explaining how intertextual


references in the film strengthen the gothic genre and themes.

Text Type: Multimodal response

Length: 500-800 words.

Steps to complete this task:

1) Watch the film Coraline.

2) Complete the activities to understand different intertextuality elements and gothic themes.
