How do you plan to implement this lesson and integrate the technology? Check all that apply:

☒ Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the student and mostly
practice based.

☒ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic of
learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The teacher facilitates
the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.

☒ Problem-based and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems and completing projects to
demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared outside of the classroom.
(Note: This objective could be reached by displaying the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing
it via an outside source.)
Lesson idea implementation:
After teaching the unit on describing, comparing, and sorting materials, students will move on to the
class activity project. I will go over the learning goals and expectations for this activity with the class.

I will show an example of a podcast I have created and walk through with them exactly how I set it
up. Together as a class, we will create a single podcast.
As a class we will create an anchor chart of example descriptive words they can use.
Individually, students will pick out a material from a list of options provided by me. Students will
individually describe their material in the podcast. I will work with students when recording their
podcast portion. I will provide feedback when students are called up one-by-one for assistance/to be
checked before recording.
Managing student learning: Students will have a time limit of 5-10 minutes to write down how to describe
their material. Students will shift from passive learning from gathering information from the lesson to active
learning and collaboration by creating the anchor chart. They will then continue to actively learn by applying
all the knowledge from the lesson and the anchor chart to create the podcast. Students will have the
opportunity to collaborate and ask 3 before me when creating their material descriptions. If students still
have questions after asking 3 of their peers then they can wait until their one-on-one session with me pre-
recording time.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Reflection:
This tool supports the UDL of Multiple Means of Action and Expression. Students have the
opportunity to express their learning in a new and creative way that they may not be familiar with.
Students are supported through audio and transcripts for students with audible and visual
disabilities.
Reflection: I believe students will be exposed to a modern way of expressing what they have
learned. I am excited to see how students react to this advanced new style of using technology. This
project will allow students to express themselves vocally and have their own voice.
