A SOW For ISAAC HT and MTPE - v2.6
A SOW For ISAAC HT and MTPE - v2.6
Any violation or indication of violation of these terms will be punished according to the anti-fraud protocol described
below.
The Isaac project entails the Human Translation (HT) and the MT post-editing (MTPE) of massive content into multiple
languages.
Content is general news, Twitter messages, strings extracted from news programs, casual conversations, etc. There
is no further reference or context than the file itself. Translators must translate to the best of their knowledge and are
expected to do some research when necessary to provide the most suitable translation.
Translations will be provided by native speakers of target language who are fluent in source language and will
be accurate and in compliance with the project translation Guidelines.
No Machine Translation is allowed in the translation (no matter if it has been edited or not). Human
translation is always required. It is strictly forbidden to use Google Machine Translation, Microsoft Machine or
any other MT engine translation. This requirement is essential as the translated data will be used for customer

MT engine training. Feeding it with other MT materials won’t provide the expected results.
Centific will conduct checks to detect the use of MT in each string. If there is an indication that MT has been
used, the user will be considered a cheater and we will apply the anti-fraud protocol described below.
It is also strictly forbidden to use any sort of script, automation, browser add-in, or other third-party tools. Data
cannot be extracted/exported to or shared with third-party entities or software. If there is an indication that
scripts, automations, browser add-ins, third-party tools, etc. have been used, the user will be considered a
cheater and we will apply the anti-fraud protocol described below.
Depending on the project, the customer will require to provide either 1 or 2 translations for the same source in
all the strings of the task. Project managers will inform the translation team whether 1 or 2 translations are
required in each handoff. If 2 translations are required, they will be paid individually (source is paid twice).
If 2 translations per string are required, it will be mandatory to provide 2 valid different translations of the same
source string. Both translations need to maintain the original intent using different words, structures, and
expressions, which means that translation 1 cannot be the same as or very similar to translation 2. Check the
HT instruction file for details and guidelines.
For tasks that need 2 translations for the same source string, Centific will conduct checks to detect how
similar translation 1 and translation 2 are. If there is an indication that translation 1 and translation 2 are the
same or too similar (only minimum variations applied), the user will be considered a cheater and we will apply
the anti-fraud protocol described below.
In those cases described in the HT instructions where it is not possible to provide a valid translation 2, the
translation 2 should be omitted. Check the HT instruction file for details and guidelines.
For tasks where 2 translations for the same source string are needed and only translation 1 has been
provided, Centific will conduct checks to detect if the lack of translation 2 is justified. If there is an indication
that the lack of translation 2 is not justified, the user who missed to translate it will be penalized.
Human translated quality is expected in the translated strings; make the changes necessary so that the
content feels like it has been originally written by a native speaker.
Translations will be provided by native speakers of target language who are fluent in source language and will
be accurate and in compliance with the project translation Guidelines.
Centific will conduct “Edit distance” comparison against the original customer MT content, to make sure it has
been duly post-edited. If there is an indication that the customer MT content has been unreasonably left
unedited, the user will be considered a cheater and we will apply the anti-fraud protocol described below.
No external Machine Translation is allowed in the translation (no matter if it has been edited or not).
Human translation is always required. It is strictly forbidden to use Google Machine Translation, Microsoft
Machine or any other MT engine translation. This requirement is essential as the translated data will be used
for customer MT engine training. Feeding it with other MT materials won’t provide the expected results.
Centific will conduct checks to detect the use of external MT in each string. If there is an indication that
external MT has been used, the user will be considered a cheater and we will apply the anti-fraud protocol
described below.

MTPE productivity may vary depending on the quality of the MT and the nature of the source strings. In any
case, source strings should be carefully read and the MT should be improved whenever possible. Having too
high MTPE productivities means that the MT is not being edited enough or that the source is not being
carefully read, both of which will jeopardize the project and the cooperation with the customer. To prevent this,
we estimate that a reasonable MTPE production can fluctuate from 500 up to 1500 words/h with at least 70%
of the original MT content edited for improvements. Users with higher productivities/lower % of edits will be
treated as suspicious users and investigated. If PMs do not find any valid justification for the abnormal figures
(for example based on the nature of the source content), the work will be considered as invalid and the user
as Cheater. If PM indicates a different scope of productivity in the handoff message for a particular task,
please follow it as priority for that particular task.
Quality checks
General and task-specific quality checks will be performed by the reviewers and the Centific team before, during, and
after the delivery to the customer. This is to monitor the general translation/review quality and to identify cheaters or
poor performers. No matter in which stage of the process issues are detected, QA and anti-fraud protocols will apply
to all users (reviewers included).

< 0% 100% discount
If any reviewer unfairly penalizes any translator by applying any error category improperly, the penalization will be
removed from the translator performance report and applied to the reviewer himself/herself.
Quality groups
According to each translator global quality score, there will be 3 different Quality groups:
Gold: global quality score >=95%
Silver: global quality score between 80 - 94.99%
Bronze: global quality score between 70% - 79.99%
Additionally:
Bronze users could be temporarily deactivated for further quality checks and assessments.
Users with less than 70% of global quality score will be removed from the pool for poor quality performance.
Users with negative scores (below 0%) will be considered cheaters and the below anti-fraud protocol will
apply.
Gold suppliers will have higher priority during job assignments over the rest.
Reviewers with a global quality score lower than 90% in Review webapps will be removed from the review
pool for poor quality performance.
This is a general framework, and it is for reference only. Centific is free to adapt and adjust it at any time depending on
customer specific requests and project specific needs. For extraordinary circumstances or other scenarios not
explicitly mentioned here, Centific is free to apply any necessary quality management strategy (including user
removal, user deactivation, and PO discounts) depending on the case.
Anti-fraud protocol
Any user in violation of these terms will be considered a cheater and punished with immediate removal/ban from the
project. Cheating users will not be paid for any of the jobs/tasks/handoffs they have participated in, regardless the
potential score they might have, as all their work will be considered invalid. This will apply also to other circumstances
or scenarios not explicitly mentioned here that may jeopardize the project and the cooperation with the customer.
