Many factors contribute to mental health
problems, including:

• Biological factors, such as genes or brain chemistry


• Life experiences, such as trauma or abuse;
bereavement
• Experiencing stigma and discrimination
• Social disadvantage, poverty or debt
• Social isolation or loneliness
Women are mostly expected to be:
• Accommodating and emotional

• More susceptible and vulnerable

• Expected to take care of the children, cook


and clean the home

• Women are natural nurturers rather than leaders


Women are mostly expected to be:

• Women don’t need equal pay

• Occupations — Some people are quick to assume


that teachers and nurses

• Assertive women are unfeminine and are ”bossy”

• Women with children are less devoted to their


jobs
Common Mental Health Issues in Women

•Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

• Eating Disorders
