Transitivity Profiling of the King

The king in most of times is associated with material and verbal processes, with one
instance of behavioral process, one of mental process, and one of relational one, which
illustrates his character perfectly well. The king here has contradicted sides. For some
material processes like “Gave” and “invites” demonstrate his effectiveness in the
situations; he is an active king who reflects the feelings of joyfulness and happiness by the
daughter's born throughout these actions. However, the other material processes such as
“left” and “departed” indicates that he is a powerless and helpless king who wants to leave
the place, which brings out his feelings of sorrow and departure as a result of his daughter’s
ever sleeping. The verbal processes like “ordered” and “commanded” highlights his actual
authority in giving orders, which reinforces his positive situations towards the
circumstances he faces. He is non-passive king. In addition, the mental process like
“hoped” emphasizes his initial hope that his daughter would be fine after all these years of
patience. Yet, this hope turned into a dark dream from which he couldn’t be awake. His
instance of behavioral process such as “wept” proves his melancholic sincere “feelings”
towards his daughter that became combined with the tearing-off “action.” Moreover, his
only relational process maintains his feelings of loneliness and inability, which affirms his
transformation from an active, powerful king to a miserable, helpless one.
