The Institut Giacometti in Paris runs a research programme on the history of modern art: the École
des Modernités. The aim of this programme is to support original projects in the study of the art of
the modern period (1905-1960).

As part of this programme, the Institut Giacometti supports original research on the modern period
through access to its research centre, research residencies and publishing support in the form of a
collection of essays. One of the main themes of the programme is cosmopolitan modernity in Paris.

The École des Modernités research residencies provide researchers with a studio apartment at the
Institut Giacometti, 5, rue Victor Schœlcher in Paris (14th arrondissement), for a period of 3 weeks
(doctoral and post-doctoral research - extendable to 6 weeks, on justified request) or 1 week (pre-
doctoral research, Master's level). In addition to a fully equipped self-contained studio flat, researchers
have access to the Institut Giacometti’s archives and library during opening hours. The residencies are
intended to support the research work of young art historians.

Paris.
