1.6 Explains the protocols (processes) in making electrical gadgets.

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Explain the processes in making extension cord, lampshade, doorbell and
plug.
B. Construct simple electrical gadget.

II. CONTENT
Process in Making Electrical Gadgets

III. LEARNING RESOURCES

IV. PROCEDURE
a. Review of the Previous Lesson
Review to the pupils the common electricals tools used in making simple
electrical gadgets.

b. Establishing Purpose of the Lesson

Show example of simple electrical gadgets.
Extension cords are very useful at home since they give additional power
outlets where they are needed. They also allow you to move more freely with
the gadget instead of being confined near the main power source.

c. Presenting Examples/Instances of the Lesson

Discuss and demonstrate to the pupils how to make an extension cord.

Materials:
 Electrical wire (depending on your desired length)
 Outlet
 Plug
 Hand tools (screwdriver, pliers, and utility knife or cutter)

Procedure:
1. Separate one end of electrical wire to about 10 centimeters each.
2. Peel off the skin or insulator of the wire ends by 2 centimeters.
3. Loosen the screw of the male electric plug. Open the cover of male
plug with a screwdriver.
4. Insert the wire into the male plug. Twist both ends of the wire to keep
the wires making contact with each other. Tighten the screws down to
hold the wire securely.
5. Put back the cover of the plug so the wire will not be exposed and
cause electric shock.
6. Repeat steps 1 to 4 on the end of the electrical wire, this time with the
female plug (surface outlet).

d. Finding Practical Applications of Concepts and Skills

 Let the pupils make their own simple electrical gadgets (extension
cord)
 But first discuss to the pupils the safety precautions they need to
observe.

e. Making Generalization and abstractions about the lesson

Review to the pupils the steps in making an extension cord.

V. Evaluation

Direction: Arrange the steps to follow in making extension cord. Number the
items from 1 to 5. Write your answer on a separate sheet or notebook.

____1. Peel of the skin or insulator of the wire ends by 2 centimeters.

____2. Loosen the screw of the male electric plug. Open cover of male plug with
a screwdriver.
____3. Insert the wire into the male plug. Twist both ends of the wire and tighten
the screws down to hold the wires securely.
____4. Separate one end of electrical wires to about 10 centimeters each.
____5. Put back the cover of the plug so the wire will not be exposed and cause
electric shock.
