AIM OF THE STUDY


 Study of knowledge regarding diabetes and dietary practices among diabetic patients
admitted to Yenepoya Medical College Hospital.
OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

 To assess the level of knowledge regarding diabetes mellitus among diabetic patients.
 To study the level of knowledge regarding dietary practices among diabetic patients.
 To find out the association between selected demographic variables and knowledge
regarding diabetes and dietary practices among inpatients.

DESCRIPTION OF THE TOOL

The tool consists of structured knowledge questionnaire. It consists of four parts – Part A, Part
B, Part C, Part D. Part A includes demographic variables such as age, gender, educational status,
religion etc, Part B includes history of disease, Part C include questions to assess the knowledge
about disease, Part D includes questions regarding dietary practices.

Name of the tool: Formulated questions regarding knowledge about diabetes and dietary
practices among diabetic patients.

Operational Definitions
Knowledge :In this study knowledge refers to the information that diabetic patients are having
regarding diabetes and proper dietary practices.
Patients: In this study patients refers to the person admitted in Yenepoya Medical College for
treatment of diabetes.

TYPE OF TOOL : Multiple choice questions.
