What happens to someone NOT wearing a seatbelt in
a head-on collision?
You should always wear a seatbelt when riding a car because it keeps
you safer than riding without one.
Wearing a seatbelt while driving helps to prevent injuries incase of an
accident. The seatbelt locks you in and prohibits you from having a lot
of movement. This is in order to protect you from flying through the
wind shield or hitting your head if you crash your car. If you don’t wear
a seatbelt, you are putting yourself at a higher risk of injury. When a
car makes impact on something, it tends to jolt you forward because
the movement is stopping. This jolt causes your body to be pushed
forward.
Newtons First Law explains that objects that are in motion, stay in
motion. Objects at rest stay at rest, unless acted upon an unbalanced
force. This relates to the cars crashing because motion is caused by
unbalanced forces. The movement of the car is stopped by the wall.
But the car continued moving even after it hit, this caused the driver
without the seatbelt to fly forward and hit his head. However, the guy
with the seatbelt didn’t get jolted forward as much.
