be used in many different learning situations. The language used recognizes the
diverse vocabulary level of students. The lessons are arranged to follow the
standard sequence of the course. The order in which you read them can be
changed to correspond with the textbook you are now using.

Leathercraft Project
1 Plan/Proposal

In our previous lesson, you learned how to design a pattern. It was


exciting to know that there is a different design to create and apply to leathercraft
projects. This lesson covers the leathercraft project plan/proposal. You will now
learn how it will greatly affect the image of a project.

Notes to the Teacher


The Leather Craft industry has created opportunities
to many. You may soon be preparing yourself for one of
these jobs as a career or as your own entrepreneurial
livelihood source.

In producing a leathercraft project, we should be familiar with the different tools


and materials needed. We must also remember the procedures and techniques in
planning and designing to makes our work easy.

Leathercraft Project Plan/Proposal

A project proposal is a plan for a project that is laid out or put forward for
consideration. It gives an overall outline of the entire plan that includes the
purpose of the plan, the design of the project, the materials and tools needed, the
step-by-step procedure in doing the project, the criteria for judging the finished
project. A sample project plan is shown below.

VI. Criteria for judging the finished Project

A. General Appearance

Leather has:

-lustrous, clear-grained surface;


-no defects, not over finished as to obscure its natural quality;
-fine wrinkles when it is bent;
-color that is of staying quality (the color does not fade); and
-the ability to return to its original shape and softness after washing and
drying.

B. Design
The design of the product is:

-well selected;
-appropriate or suited to the project;
-proportional to the size of the project;
-easily marked and fully visible on the surface of the project; and
-neatly and brightly colored, not faded.

C. Workmanship

-Stitches are smooth, well regulated, neat, and finely done.


-Design is carefully followed.
-Fitting is well reinforced.
-shape of form of the project is well defined and balanced on all sides.
-Decorations and other ornaments are well placed and artistically done.
-Colors are well-chosen and neatly applied natural and not faded.

D. Suitability
The product is:

-suited to the use or purpose for which it is made;


-simple, practical, and easy to use; and
-suited to the best meet the specific need of a group of clients.
