ASA Everyone,

For the month of September we have the following Spot Awards. In addition I had mentioned that we
will also be giving Rs. 50,000 awards for out of the box ideas that can and will be used to generate
income for SSGC so I have 3 of those as well

SPOT AWARDS:

1) Mohammad Danish in the LNG department. I have stated this several times but LNG
department is going to be one of the most important ones in SSGC going forward and we will be
expanding this and creating more visibility for it. Danish has worked on several initiatives
including development of an LNG ground storage model that will be the basis for several new
ventures that we are evaluating. I will continue to look at this group for analysis and decisions
that will be the future of SSGC.

2) The GIS department at SSGC does a tremendous job of providing technical assistance for all our
core services. One of the tasks that I had asked them to do was to tag customer complaints and
rectification work in GIS on which the following people worked on. Very thankful for Mr. Ali
Naqi as one of the few pure technical minds in SSGC. We will continue to expand on their role
and use them where possible

1) Muhammad Ghazanfar, GIS-UFG

2) Zaheer Haider, HO, GIS - UFG

3) Tariq Qureshi, HO, GIS-UFG

4) Mehnaz Hafeez, Quetta, GIS - UFG
5) Usama Haider, GIS - UFG
6) Sabika Nusrat, HO, GIS-UFG (3rd Party Resource)

8) Sanaullah Syed, HO, CC&B - IT

3) During the last 3 months the Finance Department has done a tremendous job of implementing
the budget module which is critical in implementing controls throughout SSGC. The following individuals
have been instrumental in implementing this module the benefits of which we will see during the year

1) Zeeshan Baig (Manager) Projects

2) Atiq ur Rehman (Assistant Manager) Projects

4) M for digitalization: Muhammad Asad in the finance department was instrumental in

implementing this process and being a liason with commercial banks

5) IT is going to be a key area for SSGC and the push is to use IT where possible especially when it
comes to customer interface, to reduce employee and customer contact, reduce turnaround time and
improve efficiency.
SSGC Customers now have the facility to log their regular/common complaints directly onto CC&B via
the IVR (1199) without the need to wait in queues for the Call Center Operator to connect. This new
feature creates value by eliminating the wait time for a customer and quickly go over the menu options
while calling 1199 and also reducing pressure on the call center agents by substantially reducing the
customer queue. Employees from CC&B that were involved in this project are

1) Muhammad Talha (Project Technical Lead)

2) Naima Urooj
3) Tariq Saeed
4) Owais Khan
5) Muhammad Junaid
6) Syed Ahmed Hussain (Data base team)

6.) METER PLANT:

1. Receivable of Meter Plant Sale were long outstanding and as directed by the management
(DMD/CFO) directed Finance and Treasury to coordinate and find out the missing invoices and clear
the balance of  Rs.247 million pertaining to internal consumption, in order to streamline
settlement between SSGC Meter plant and Distribution Cost and ensuring submission of clean
financial position of Meter Plant to SNGPL. IT, Finance, Treasury, Meter Plant stores successfully
cleared and reconciled transactions and provided the position to management. Mukarram
Mehmood from ERP section played a vital role for the resolution.

OUT OF BOX IDEAS

This is the first month we will be looking at Out of the Box ideas. These ideas are designed to look at
things that are currently not being done at SSGC and those that will create value. It is important that
these ideas are outside the normal day to day work of the individuals involved.

1) ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT:

These proposals have the potential to make SSGC self sufficient to cover its own power
requirements and to sell electricity in the grid thereby generating revenue for the company.

To utilize the available waste energy for power generation via HRSG boilers and steam turbine
from 6 Gas Turbines at HQ-2 Nawabshah. The results of the conceptual study show that a net
power of approx.13.25 MWe can be generated from the exhaust gases of GasTurbines and to
generate a net income of around Rs 1 billion.

To evaluate the potential of power generation through Pressure letdown Technology by

capturing the lost energy at SSGC’s SMSs. At SMSs, the pressures are reduced to almost 250 psig
from 700-1200 psig to suit the demand. Operational parameters at KT SMS were used as a
case study and the results show that a net power of approx. 2.5 MWe can be produced at KT
SMS through Turbo-expanders.

Both these projects will be implemented and the ideas came from Suhail Shams and Sarah Zafar
in P&D. Congratulations to both of them.
2) VALUE ADDED SERVICES:

There have been several ideas presented by Shaikh Zubair and I will mention a few that will be
implemented.

We in the process of creating 1 department for New Connections combing Sales/Surveys/UD.

This will improve the turnaround time and reduce the current backlog and customer complaints

Formation of 1 department for addressing all complaints whether they are above or under
ground. Current process is very cumbersome and leads to several complaints as the turnaround
time is high. The new department will address most of these issues

Controls in Stores department. There is currently no reconciliation between Stores and

distribution leading to material shortages, unaccountability in products and delays in customer
connections. This process will address most of these issues.

There are several more and I hope we continue to see these out of the box solutions going
forward.

3) LEGAL DEPARTMENT:

One of the issues in legal was the amount of paperwork that was not digitalized. SSGC has gone
outside and sort quotes to get this work done which ranged from Rs 5 to 6 Million. Haris Baber
had volunteered to do the work in-house using existing tools. This work has been completed
and is currently being tested. Initiatives such as this are very important and will be encouraged
as it shows we have capable people within the company that are willing to take on challenges.
Well done and continue the good work.

The list is much longer than last month but I am encouraged by both the nominations and the work
being done. I have left several others but they will be considered next month. Once again
congratulations to everyone involved and you are the ones making the turnaround possible. Thank
you.
