    This study examined the development of musical skills in underprivileged children in China who participated in a music training program. Researchers found that the children showed significant improvements in pitch and rhythm discrimination abilities after 6 months of training. Brain imaging results also indicated changes in neural processing related to these skills. The findings suggest that structured music programs can help disadvantaged children enhance their musical skills and experience associated neural plasticity.
