Question
How to scan to a USB thumb drive.
Answer
A document can be scanned to a USB memory device that is directly connected to the machine.
Note
Only USB memory formatted with FAT12, FAT16, or FAT32 can be used.
Support cannot be guaranteed with USB memory with embedded security functions,
memory card readers connected via USB, USB memory connected via an extension
cable and USB hub, and/or USB memory that does not meet USB standards.
If the USB memory becomes full during the scanning process the entire scan job
will be deleted. Therefore, make sure that the USB memory has enough free space
in advance.
If you want to connect the USB memory via an extension cable, use a cable that is
shorter than three meters.

To ScantoUSB:
1. Make sure you are in Scan mode.
2. Load the document, and press Scan.
3. Press [PC/USB], and then [USB].

4. Connect the USB memory to the MFP.
5. Press Start.
If you loaded the document in the ADF, this concludes the procedure.
If you loaded the document on the document glass, load the next document, and press [Next
Doc]. To finish scanning, press [Complete].
When the message “Scan Ready” is displayed on the screen, remove the USB memory.

CAUSE: Apple® changed default security preferences on OS 10.8 to only allow installation of
downloaded programs from the Mac App Store or from "identified developers".

SOLUTION: If you get an error, you will need to perform one of the following workarounds.
Workaround 1
Open [System Preferences] g [Security & Privacy] g [Allow applications downloaded from] then select
[Anywhere].
Note: Attached is a screenshot of the setting.
Workaround 2
Right click (Control + Click) Package file and show menu then select [Open].
Notes:
1. OS 10.8 drivers have been released since October 2012 and a list of drivers and their approximate
release dates can be found by clicking here, then clicking on the "Product Compatibility Chart" link.
Products not listed will not receive native OS 10.8 drivers at this time.
2. If an OS 10.8 driver is not currently available, use the Macintosh® 10.7.X drivers available from the
Download Selector or OneStop Product Support (SelfHelp).
3. Visual, SOHA or plugin driver is currently not supported until the official Macintosh® 10.8 PostScript
driver is released which should be at least 90 days from the release of the OS.

Question
What are the exact steps to set up scan to SMB in Novell© 6.5 using iManager®?
Answer
Prerequisites
NMAS has to be installed for simple passwords to be set. Scan to SMB will not function properly
using an eDirectory password.
Under the server console:
1. Select 1 to enter the system console.
2. Type CIFSSTRT to start the CIFS service.
On a PC:
1. Start iManager®. Http://ipaddress/nps/imanager.html
2. Select file protocols CIFS/AFP.
3. Verify the netware server is selected.
4. Create a new share. Enter a name, path and comment.
5. Select NMAS on the left hand menu and then select your NMAS user.
6. Set a simple password for the user. An eDirectory password will not work when scanning to SMB.

1. Stop CIFS using the CIFSSTOP command.
2. Restart CIFS using CIFSSTRT command.
On the MFP
1. Create an SMB one touch. Enter the TCP/IP address or host name of the Novell© server.
2. Enter your Novell© user name and your simple password. No domain is needed for the user name.
3. File path will be the name of the share only. If the share name is scan the file path will be scan.
4. Verify scan to SMB functions properly.

How to set up Microsoft® Exchange 2007/2010 with authentication.
Answer
Please perform the following steps:
Basic checks before starting
1. Verify DNS is working on the MFP. This can be verified by PINGing Google.com from PING
confirmation in Network settings/Detail settings.
2. Set up time adjustment to sync to the Active directory or Exchange® server. Verify that the date and
time on the machine are correct after syncing.
3. Verify a valid Email account is created for the MFP on Exchange®. If the machine does not have an
account, please verify that a valid account is being used.
On Exchange
4. Create a new receive connector in Exchange®.
5. Under the General tab of the connector please specify the full FQDN of the Exchange® server.
6. Under the Network tab of the connector please add the MFP TCP/IP address to the list of local
TCP/IP addresses to receive Email.
7. Under the Authentication tab of the connector please verify that Transport Layer Security, Basic
Authentication and Exchange Server authentication are checked.

8. Under the Permissions tab of the connector please verify that anonymous, exchange servers and
exchange users are checked.
On the MFP
9. Verify that the machine and admin Email addresses are a valid Exchange® Email addresses.
10. Verify that Start TLS is selected on port 587.
11. Make sure to check the SMTP authentication check box.
12. Input the user name and password of the Exchange® account assigned to the machine.
13. Set the domain name under the SMTP authentication section.
14. Send a test Email and verify that the machine functions as intended.

To set the Installed Place when using Email notifications, perform the following steps:
1. Log into the machine using PageScope Web Connection.
2. Select the Network tab.
3. Select IPP.
4. Fill out the field for printer location.

Question
How to completely uninstall a printer driver in Microsoft® Windows 2000/XP/Vista™/7.
Answer
When removing a printer from the Printers folder, the printer driver file is not removed completely from
the hard disk drive. The following describes procedures to use if a printer driver file is corrupted and
requires removal:
WINDOWS 2000
WARNING: If using Registry Editor incorrectly, serious problems may occur that will require
reinstallation of the operating system. Microsoft®/KMBS cannot guarantee that problems can be solved
that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor with extreme caution.
1. Remove the printer using the Printers folder in Microsoft® Windows 2000.
2. In Microsoft® Windows 2000, in Control Panel, doubleclick Administrative Tools, doubleclick
Services, and then stop the Spooler service.
3. Run Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe) and go to the following subkey (note that this is all one path,
which has been wrapped for readability):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows NT
x86\Drivers\Version3\
Note: Version3 is Microsoft® Windows 2000, and is the name of the printer to be removed.
4. Notice the values on the right and write down the file names.
5. With the printer driver key selected, click Delete on the Edit menu.
6. Go to the following directory and delete the printer driver files noted in step 4:
%SystemRoot%\System32\Spool\Drivers\

Note: If unable to delete the files and folders in the above directory structure after stopping the spooler
service because of an error message that the files are in use (such as, Rasddui.dll), set the startup
type for the Spooler service to Disabled, restart the computer, and then attempt to delete the files and
folders again. After deleting the files, restore the Spooler startup to Automatic.
7. In Microsoft® Windows 2000, in Control Panel, doubleclick Administrative Tools, doubleclick
Services, and then start the Spooler service.
8. If reinstalling a printer, use the Printers folder.
9. Delete the %windir%\inf\oem?.inf file that is associated with the removed printer driver. This
removes the printer from the printer selection list when adding new printers.
Note: In addition to the steps listed above, it may be necessary to delete the printer's associated
unidriver (Rasdd.dll, Pscript.dll, or Plotter.dll). If printing has been initialized or if a process is using this
file, it will be locked open and cannot be deleted. The file can be renamed or the system can be

WINDOWS XP
Microsoft® Windows XP adds a user interface feature to delete driver files so the steps for Microsoft®
Windows 2000 are no longer necessary. To delete printer driver files in Microsoft® Windows XP:
1. Click Start, and then click Printers and Faxes.
2. On the File menu, click Server Properties.
3. On the Drivers tab, click the printer driver to be deleted, and then click Remove.
WINDOWS VISTA / WINDOWS 7
To completely remove a printer driver, please refer to attached documentation for procedure.
Notes:
1. Microsoft® Windows 7 Home or Home Premium, does not have the "Print Management" snapin for
MMC. You have to run command prompt as ADMINISTRATOR, enter printui /s /t2, remove the printer
driver and reboot.
2. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide
confirmation.
3. Remember, you cannot remove a printer if you have items in the print queue. If items are waiting to
print when you try to remove a printer, Microsoft® Windows will wait until printing is complete, and then
remove the printer. If you have permission to manage documents on the printer, you can also cancel all
print jobs and then try to remove the printer again. For more information, see attached documentation
concerning how to cancel printing and printer permissions. To view a PDF, you may need to download a
free copy of Adobe Reader®.

When choosing ScantoShared PC Folder, a monochrome or color document can be scanned directly
to a registered shared folder in a computer on the network.
Note: A shared folder must be set up on the computer as a first step.

Problem
When installing a driver, an error message of "Your security preferences are set to block installation of
applications from unidentified developers." is displayed and the installation is prevented.
Solution
Please refer to http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5290 for information about Gatekeeper in Mountain
Lion.
Apple changed default security preferences on OS 10.8 to only allow installation of downloaded
programs from the Apple Store or from "identified developers".
Workaround 1
Open [System Preferences] > [Security & Privacy] > [Allow applications downloaded from].
Select [Anywhere].
Note: Attached is a screenshot of the setting.
Workaround 2
Right click (Control + Click) Package file and show menu. Select [Open].
Note: Visual, SOHA or plugin driver is currently not supported until the official MAC 10.8 PostScript
driver is released which should be at least 90 days from the release of the OS.

System error 501 (Message Board) after attemptng to install the 1GB CF memory card.
Workaround/Fix
CAUSE: The MB750 (Message Board) firmware is not at the proper version (version mismatching error).
Note: This error occurs when an optional CF memory card is attached to the network board, and the
firmware version on the CF memory card and network board do not match.

SOLUTION: Confirm the latest MB750 firmware (C3A0A0) and Main board firmware (D5A0A0 or later) is
installed. Ensure that the CF memory card (Message Board Memory Upgrade 1GB Item #7640015041)
is used.
Notes:
1. The CF memory card is specially preformatted for this product; generic 1GB CF cards will not
function.
2. The firmware is available for download from the Konica Minolta Download Selector.

How to configure the bizhub 25 for printing from an AS/400®.
Answer
The bizhub 25 can be set up as a device printer on the AS/400®. When printing SCS, this setup can be
used with the stock controller NIC cards.
To load an SNMP driver compatible with the Konica Minolta controller, perform the following:
1. From the Main Menu, under Selection or Command, type: CRTDEVPRT
2. Change the following to set up the printer (leave all other settings at their defaults):
a. Device Description (name the printer i.e., Konica Minolta)
