Reflection on topic C. Basic Concepts

(Concept of Corporation, Role of Management, and the notion of Culture)

As I read the article, a corporation is understood by everyone. But as stated in the handouts, is it
commonly seen as a structural and legal entity. Others sometimes describe it as a building. A deeper understanding
of what a corporation is is that it is a living social system, composed of people with diverse backgrounds, talents,
and capabilities that are gathered together through a selection process to perform a certain task or expected output.
Simply means that a corporation is not only a being but a living being. It is also divided into three groups namely
the investors – who serve as the brain of the corporation, the management – who are the spirit of the corporation,
and the rank and file or the workers – who are the hands and feet of the corporation.
In terms of the major role of management, a manager's vital task is to organize diverse personality that is
present in an organization and transform it into one team to accomplish desired goals and objectives and assess this
unification of individual culture to attain harmony, cohesion, and stability to the company. For me, our idea of
management was deeply influenced by foreigners who once ruled our country like the Spanish and Americans.
This influence leads us to the mindset that there is a big barrier between the managers and the workers which are
very rampant in the business field in our country today.
Lastly is our notion of culture or how we understand the culture. For me, culture starts at the time we are
born. We can hear our mother telling us “Paniniwala” during the time she is pregnant, etc. for this reason, I believe
that culture has a greater impact on who we are today, what we are yesterday, and what we are to be. This also
affects our perspective in life and the basis or foundations of our principles in life.
