CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS

PART A REQUIRED FOR THE PAVEMENT STUD WHEN LAID TO THE CORRECT LINE AND DIRECTION. THE WALLS OF THE SAMPLING AND TESTING
CAVITY SHALL BE SPLAYED BACK AT THE ANGLE OF APPROXIMATELY 30O TO THE VERTICAL TO FACILITATE A
FACILITIES FOR THE ENGINEERS “DOVE-TAIL” JOINT AFTER THE MORTAR HAS SET.
SAMPLING SHALL BE TAKEN AT THE PLANT OR WAREHOUSE PRIOR TO DELIVERY OR AT THE TIME OF DELIVERY.
IF SAMPLING IS DONE PRIOR TO SHIPMENT, THE ENGINEER SHALL HAVE THE ACCESS TO THE MATERIALS TO BE
SAMPLED. THE ENGINEER SHALL BE PROVIDED ALL REASONABLE FACILITIES FOR INSPECTION AND SAMPLING
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL AT ALL TIMES DURING THE DURATION OF THE CONTACT PROVIDE FOR THE USE OF THE BOTTOM OF THE CAVITY SHALL BE LEVELLED WITH ASPHALT CONCRETE PRIOR TO PLACING THE STUD BASE
SHALL BE CONDUCTED SO AS NOT TO INTERFERE UNNECESSARILY WITH THE OPERATION OF THE WORKS.
ENGINEER ALL EQUIPMENT, INSTRUMENTS AND APPARATUS, ALL INFORMATION AND RECORDS AND QUALIFIED WHICH SHALL BE POUNDED INTO POSITION WITH A POUNDER FOOT ATTACHED TO THE PNEUMATIC DRILL.

EQUIPMENT, INSTRUMENTS AND APPARATUS SHALL INCLUDE THOSE LISTED IN THE SPECIAL PROVISIONS. THE DEPTH OF THE ACTIVITY SHALL BE SUCH THAT WHEN THE STUD BASE AND REFLECTORS HAVE BEEN RANDOM FROM THE LOT OR BATCH OF FINISHED MATERIAL THAT WAS MANUFACTURED SIMULTANEOUSLY OR
INSTALLED THE ELEVATION OF THE FLOOR OF THE LENS SOCKET SHALL NOT BE GREATER THAN 2.0 MM OR LESS CONTINUOUSLY, AS A UNIT BETWEEN THE TIME OF COMPOUNDING AND THE TIME OF PACKAGING OR PLACING IN
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE WITHIN THIRTY (30) CALENDAR DAYS AFTER NOTICE TO COMMENCE WORK, THAN 1.0 MM ABOVE THE PAVEMENT SURFACE. SHIPPING CONTAINERS.
THE VEHICLE LISTED IN THE SPECIAL PROVISIONS FOR THE EXCLUSIVE USE OF THE ENGINEER. THE VEHICLES ON

SHALL BE UNDER THE DIRECT ORDER OF THE ENGINEER.
POSITION WITH ASPHALT CONCRETE CONTAINING FINE AGGREGATE ONLY OR WITH A CEMENT MORTAR AS IN THE MELTER SHALL WEIGH 800 ± 50 G.
DESCRIBED IN SUBSECTION 607.2.3 ABOVE.
IMMEDIATELY AFTER ALL MATERIALS TO BE USED IN THE PROJECT HAVE PASSED THE MINIMUM TESTING HEAT THE MATERIAL IN ACCORDANCE WITH ASTM 05167.
REQUIREMENTS BASED ON THE STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR DPWH, THE MANNER OF OPERATION IN THIS
PARTICULAR PROJECT SHALL HAVE THE FOLLOWING SEQUENCE: TESTING FOR HOT-POURED TYPE SEALANT SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH ASTM 05329.
ITEM 612 - REFLECTIVE THERMOPLASTIC STRIPING MATERIAL (SOLID FORM) SAMPLES FOR TESTING OF COLD APPLICATION TYPE SHALL CONSIST OF SUFFICIENT QUANTITIES OF EACH
COMPONENT TO PROVIDE 3.785 LITERS (1 GAL) OF SEALANT MATERIAL. TESTING SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH
PART B THE PAINTING OF LANE MARKERS AND TRAFFIC STRIPS SHALL INCLUDE THE CLEANING OF THE PAVEMENT ASTM 01851.
OTHER GENERAL REQUIREMENTS SURFACES, THE APPLICATION, PROTECTION AND DRYING OF THE PAINT COATINGS, THE PROTECTION OF
PEDESTRIANS, VEHICULAR OR OTHER TRAFFIC, THE PROTECTION OF ALL PARTS OF THE ROAD STRUCTURE AND
SHALL BE PROVIDED BY THE CONTRACTOR AND SHALL MAINTAIN SUCH OFFICES, STORES, WORKSHOPS
ITS APPURTENANCES AGAINST DISFIGUREMENT BY SPATTERS, SPLASHES OR SMIRCHES OF PAINTS OR OF PAINT
LATRINES AND MESSING ACCOMMODATIONS AS ARE NECESSARY. THESE SHOULD BE LOCATED IN THE
MATERIALS, AND THE SUPPLYING OF ALL TOOLS, LABOR AND TRAFFIC PAINT NECESSARY FOR THE ENTIRE
CONTRACTORS COMPOUND, DISTINCT AND SEPARATE FROM ENGINEERS COMPOUND. THE DIMENSIONS AND WORK.
LAYOUT OF THE BUILDINGS AND PLACES SHALL BE SUBJECT TO THE APPROVAL OF THE PROJECT ENGINEER. THE

SHALL CONSIST OF MOBILIZATION OF EQUIPMENT AND MANPOWER, MATERIALS AND OTHER ITEMS THAT THE PAINT TO BLISTER AND PRODUCE A POROUS FILM OF PAINT.
SHALL BE USED IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROJECT. ALL CEMENT MATERIALS SHALL BE STORED THE APPLICATION OF PAINT SHALL PREFERABLY BE CARRIED OUT BY A MACHINE SPECIALLY MADE FOR THIS

PLACED AT THE DESIGNATED LOCATIONS APPROVED BY THE PROJECT ENGINEER. CONTACT WITH THE SURFACE BEING PAINTED.
TRAFFIC PAINT SHALL BE APPLIED TO THE PAVEMENT AT THE RATE OF 0.33 L /M2 AND SHALL DRY SUFFICIENTLY
DEMOBILIZATION TO BE FREE FROM CRACKING IN FROM 15 TO 30 MINUTES.
FOLLOWS ONLY AFTER THE PROJECT WAS FINALLY ACCEPTED AND SURROUNDINGS ARE PROPERLY CLEANED. ALL MARKINGS SHALL PRESENT A CLEAN CUT, UNIFORM AND WORKMANLIKE APPEARANCE. MARKINGS THAT FAIL
TO HAVE A UNIFORM, SATISFACTORY APPEARANCE EITHER BY DAY OR NIGHT, SHALL BE CORRECTED BY THE
PART E CONTRACTOR IN A MANNER ACCEPTABLE TO THE ENGINEER AND AT NO COST TO THE GOVERNMENT.

ITEM 613 - CONCRETE JOINT SEALANT (HOT-POURED ELASTIC AND COLD APPLIED TYPES)

ITEM 302 - BITUMINOUS TACK COAT EQUIPMENT


FOR INSTALLATION OF THE JOINT SEALER, HOT-POURED ELASTIC TYPE, ALL EQUIPMENT NECESSARY FOR THE
SURFACE CONDITION SATISFACTORY PERFORMANCE OF THIS CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE ON THE PROJECT SITE AND APPROVED BY
THE ENGINEER BEFORE WORKWILL BE PERMITTED TO BEGIN.
TACK COAT SHALL BE APPLIED ONLY TO SURFACES WHICH ARE DRY OR SLIGHTLY MOIST. NO TACK COAT SHALL
BE APPLIED WHEN THE WEATHER IS FOGGY OR RAINY. JOINTS PREPARATION
PAVEMENT JOINTS IN NEW CONSTRUCTION FOR APPLICATION OF CONCRETE JOINT SEALER SHALL BE DRY,
EQUIPMENT
CLEAN OF ALL SCALE, DIRT, DUST, CURING COMPOUND, AND OTHER FOREIGN MATTER. THE SIDEWALLS OF THE
JOINT SPACE TO BE SEALED SHALL BE THOROUGHLY CLEANED, BLOWN FREE OF LOOSE SAND BY
EQUIPMENT SHALL CONFORM IN ALL RESPECTS TO APPLICATION OF BITUMINOUS MATERIAL. HIGH-PRESSURE AIR.
FOR MAINTENANCE OR RESEALING OF JOINTS THAT HAVE PREVIOUSLYCONTAINED EITHER SIMILAR OR
APPLICATION OF BITUMINOUS MATERIAL
DISSIMILAR SEALING MATERIAL, THE JOINT SHALL BE DRY, CLEANED THOROUGHLY WITH A PLOW, ROUTER, WIRE
BRUSH, CONCRETE SAW, OR OTHER SUITABLE TOOLS DESIGNED FOR THE PURPOSE OF NEATLY CLEANING
IMMEDIATELY BEFORE APPLYING THE TACK COAT, THE FULL WIDTH OF THE SURFACE TO BE TREATED SHALL BE
PAVEMENT JOINTS. LOOSE MATERIAL SHALL BE BLOWN OUT. THE SIDEWALLS OF THE JOINT SPACE TO BE
CLEANED OF LOOSE AND FOREIGN MATERIALS BY MEANS OF A POWER BROOM OR POWER BLOWER,
SUPPLEMENTED AS NECESSARY BY HAND SWEEPING. WHERE REQUIRED BY THE ENGINEER, IMMEDIATELY PRIOR SEALED SHALL BE THOROUGHLY CLEANED, BLOWN FREE OF LOOSE SAND WITH HIGH-PRESSURE AIR.
TO THE APPLICATION OF THE TACK COAT, THE SURFACE SHALL BE LIGHTLY SPRAYED WITH WATER BUT NOT BACKER MATERIALS UNLESS OTHERWISE APPLICABLE SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH SUBSECTION
SATURATED. BITUMINOUS MATERIAL SHALL BE APPLIED BY MEANS OF A PRESSURE DISTRIBUTOR AT THE APPLICATION.
TEMPERATURE GIVEN IN ITEM 702, BITUMINOUS MATERIALS, OF THE PARTICULAR MATERIAL BEING USED. THE
RATE OF APPLICATION OF EITHER THE RAPID CURING CUT-BACK OR THE EMULSIFIED ASPHALT SHALL BE WITHIN
THE RANGE OF 0.2 TO 0.7 LITRE/M2, THE EXACT RATE AS DETERMINED BY THE ENGINEER. HEATING
THE CONCRETE JOINT SEALER SHALL BE HEATED WITHIN THE MANUFACTURER'S SPECIFIED APPLICATION
CARE SHALL BE TAKEN THAT THE APPLICATION OF BITUMINOUS MATERIAL IS NOT IN EXCESS OF THE SPECIFIED TEMPERATURE RANGE, IN A KETTLE OR MELTER, CONSTRUCTED AS A DOUBLE BOILER, WITH THE SPACE
AMOUNT; ANY EXCESS SHALL BE BLOTTED BY SAND OR REMOVED AS DIRECTED BY THE ENGINEER. ALL AREAS BETWEEN THE INNER AND OUTER SHELLS FILLED WITH OIL OR OTHER HEAT TRANSFER MEDIUM. POSITIVE
INACCESSIBLE TO THE DISTRIBUTOR SHALL BE TREATED MANUALLY USING THE DEVICE FOR HAND SPRAYING. TEMPERATURE CONTROL, MECHANICAL AGITATION, AND RECIRCULATING PUMPS SHALL BE PROVIDED. THE
