2. “How the Covid-19 Pandemic is Affecting Education in Cabo Delgado”
Cabo Delgado is a province vulnerable to natural disasters and extreme weather conditions
which, being external to the Education sector, end up affecting severely and requiring adequate
prevention and response measures. Therefore, in the case of the COVID 19 pandemic, the
Education sector is affected by the deprivation of students to continue with the normal course of
classes. The education sector has been showing some weaknesses in dealing with these
emergency situations. In order to guarantee the continuity of classes in all areas affected by this
event, temporary spaces for learning are usually needed, as in the case of providing school
equipment for students and teachers for the development of remote teaching classes. (Emergency
Education Program, 2020)
Historically, mobile devices are enemies of education for causing distraction in the classroom,
however, these electronic devices can go from bad guy to good guy, depending on their use in the
learning process. Currently, some devices have come to be seen as partners, as they provide
access to information. (Kacia Kyssy Câmara de Oliveira Miranda, 2020)
Given the results obtained, it is noticeable that the current moment in which education is living,
as well as in other areas, is challenging given the current situation we are experiencing. In this
scenario, the challenge assumed by teachers and students is great, there are countless problems
being faced by the teacher, such as lack of interest from students, lack of equipment and support
from parents and educational institutions, among others. If necessary, creativity and the use of
different strategies so that you can develop your activities. For the students, the main difficulties
are the lack of internet, technological devices such as Notebooks, Computers. In which, in most
cases, the only technological resource accessible is the cell phone. (Kacia Kyssy Câmara de
Oliveira Miranda, 2020)

2.2. The role of parents in the education of their children
Parents need support and guidance at this time. We have, on the one hand, schools that
understand that parents want content and teachers crazy about producing extra activities to meet
this demand; on the other, anxious parents who see themselves obliged to become teachers
without having the competence, and having to do their job with the home office and the anxieties
of the moment. None of this is necessary. The father should not become the child's teacher, but he
has, at this moment, a great opportunity to develop with them skills such as patience,
concentration and learning to deal with frustrations, which are important for life and also for
returning to normal school activities.
After the time of unnecessary self-demanding, the educators pave the way for a more balanced
family time, with the definition of a routine that provides children with not only fixed times for
directed study, but also regular times for the practice of reading, physical activities and household
chores. “Children should assume responsibilities at home, and not think they are in a hotel,
served by their parents in their rooms”, teaches Taís. And it is important to provide for moments
of leisure and play, in which emotional and social skills that are outside the school curriculum
can also be stimulated. (Coronavirus Health Service, 2021)
