I. General Information
Title: SLAC on the Conduct of Localized Early Grade Numeracy Assessment (LEGNA)
Theme: Be acquainted and have a smooth process in the conduct of LEGNA

II. Rationale
The Department of Education through the Curriculum Implementation Division aims to
produce learners who are numerates and can apply numeracy skills in various purposes. To
achieve this, critical thinking and problem-solving skills need to be highlighted in the
teaching of mathematics.
Numeracy skills are the foundation towards learning of all concepts in mathematics
across grade levels, the need to assess learners’ basic math skills is very essential to look
into for interventions.
To help mathematics teachers and school leaders get an idea about the numeracy
profile in terms of numeracy skills and the ability of the learners to perform basic operations
in mathematics, the CID, the Education Program Supervisor and her counterparts in the
districts developed a division-wide Localized Early Grade Numeracy Assessment (LEGNA)
test which will be administered to the learners in November, 2022.

III. Objectives:
New Murcia Elementary School proposes this kind of activity with the following
objectives:
1. To produce learners who are numerates and can apply numeracy skill in various
purposes.
2. To help mathematics teachers and school leaders get an idea about the numeracy
profile in terms of numeracy skills and the ability of learners to perform basic
operations in mathematics through LEGNA.
IV. Methodology:
In order to attain the stated objectives the following procedures will be taken:
1. Inform the school principal about the disseminated LEGNA
2. Set the schedule for SLAC
3. Allocate budgets for the activity.
4. Gather comments and suggestions for the improvement and success of the activity.
 5. Conduct of the activity.

V. Expected Participants:
9 teachers and 1 principal
