Learning
Describe certain climatic phenomena that occur on global level S9ES-IIIf-31
Competency/ies:

1.Objectives: At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
Knowledge: Differentiate between climate change and global warming
Skills: Assess prior knowledge and experiences about climate change
Attitudes: Appreciate the importance of caring the environment
Values: show willingness to learn through cooperation
2. Content/Topic CLIMATE CHANGE
3.Learning Learner’s Learning Module pp.
Resources/Materi Activity Sheets
als/ Equipment: Visual Aids
4.Procedures (indicate the steps you will undertake to teach the lesson and indicate the no. of minutes each
step will consume)
4. 1 Engage The teacher shows a picture to the class.
(10 minutes)

Questions:
1. What can you observe in the picture?
2. Which side do you want to live? Why?
4.2 Explore
(10 minutes)

4.3 Explain This activity is an indication on how much you know about this worldwide issue- the
(15 minutes) climate change. For those who have answered many questions, you are very much
aware of the events that are happening in the environment.

Each of us interacts with our environment that why we are affected by changes in your
environment. We should not disregard all the things that are happening in the
surroundings.
4.4 Elaborate Teacher: So that you will be aware on what’s going on with our mother earth, let us
watch this video. It will also be easier for you to determine the definition of climate
(10 minutes) change and global warming.

YouTube link: https://www.youtube.com/watch/?v=G4HIN_yXBiA

The teacher discusses the climate change and global warming.

Climate change is a long term change in the statistical distribution of weather paterns
over periods raning from decards to millions of years.
One example is the melting of glaciers that has led to a rising global sea level.

Global warming is a gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth’s

temperature of the earth’s atmosphere, generally attributed to the greenhouse effect
caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide, CFCs and other pollutants.

½ Crosswise

Essay:
4.5 Evaluate As a student, what are some preventive steps that you can take to stop the destructive
problems caused by climate change?
(10 minutes)

(Third Quarter)

Date: March 29, 2023

Learning
Describe certain climatic phenomena that occur on global level S9ES-IIIf-31
Competency/ies:

1.Objectives: At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
Knowledge: Define carbon footprint
Skills: Calculate their personal carbon emission
Attitudes: Take an action to lessen the effects of climate change
Values: show willingness to learn through cooperation
2. Content/Topic CLIMATE CHANGE
Learner’s Learning Module pp. 202-203
3.Learning
Carbon Footprint Calculator/Checklist
Resources/Materi
Short bondpaper
als/ Equipment:
Manila paper
4.Procedures (indicate the steps you will undertake to teach the lesson and indicate the no. of minutes each
step will consume)
4. 1 Engage Many experts say that human activity is the reason why climate change happens. Why
is this so? What crime did humanity commit? Are you part of this crime? Whom are we
(10 minutes) blame for the outcome? So let us now find out if you are part of this big conspiracy by
doing this activity entitled “Am I a Climate Hero or a Climate Culprit?” on page 202-203
in your Learner’s Module.

Before that, I will group you into 6.

4.2 Explore
(10 minutes)

4.3 Explain  The group presents their bar graph on the board.
(15 minutes)  Each member will choose the top three highest sources of carbon emission.
From that, each of them will create a strategic plan to reduce his/her contribution
to climate change.
 Each group will be asked to answer these questions below:

Q1. Which member has the highest carbon footprint?

Q2. Which member has the lower carbon footprint?
Q3. What is the average carbon footprint of the group?
Q4. What is your highest source of carbon emission?
Q5. What is your lowest source of carbon emission?

(answers may vary)

4.4 Elaborate . Teacher: from this activity you found out how much you contribute to carbon emission.
(10 minutes) Note this following terms:

1. Carbon footprint – a measure of the amount of carbon dioxide and other carbon
compounds emitted due to the consumption of fossil fuels by a particular person,
group, etc.
2. Carbon emission – carbon dioxide emitted when fossil fuels are burned in vehicles,
buildings, industrial processes and so on.

½ Crosswise

Essay:
4.5 Evaluate What are the impacts of climate change to your life?
(10 minutes)

C. Assignment (indicate whether it is for Reinforcement and/or Enrichment and/or

Enhancement of the day’s lesson or Preparation for a new lesson)

Reinforcement: none
(4 minutes)
