Barangay Buruun: Place 2nd on 27th Diyandi
Festival Competition

Diyandi festival was brought a big event
in Iligan City. Thousands of people are looking
forward to this year's festival, which they missed
for two years due to COVID-19 pandemic.
The Diyandi festival is a celebration of
patron saint Michael the Archangel and
blessings. One of the many events of this festival
is the Kasadya sa Diyandi Street dancing
competition where twelve (12) of the city’s forty-
four (44) barangays sent delegations to the street
dancing contest namely: Dalipuga, Acmac,
Rogongon, Sta. Filomena, Pala-o, Puga-an,
Ubaldo Laya, Saray, Tambacan, Maria Cristina,
Tibanga, And Barangay Buruun.
In September 2022, Mr. Apas (principal of
Iligan City National School of Fisheries) and
Mrs. Marianita Paradela (barangay captain of
buruun), agreed that the students of Iligan City
National School of Fisheries (ICNSF) was
chosen to dance the said Competition. However,
not all dancers are from ICNSF, some dancers
also are from the local of Buruun.

Jongoy, is the choreographer who train the
the dancers of buruun along with his supporter
angelita, and the big help of the presedent of
iligan choreographer si ambot. Song who brought
lively music to the performance of Barangay
Buruun.
Teachers of Iligan city National School of
Fisheries (ICNSF) especially MAPEH teacher
namely: Pia, and maam, brought a big support
and facilitate the contingent every practice.
Barangay officials of buruun insure that not only
dancers aiming to win the competition but also to
enjoy being youth and experience the joy and
happiness of the festival.
On the competition day, The Street
dancing began near the pier on Cabili Avenue.
The participants marched and performed their
dances in the streets on their way to the Anahaw
Amphitheater beside the City Hall, also where
the showdown and final judging was held.;
Barangay Buruun was the last in line up on the
streets. Heat is not a hindrance to witness each
participant's outstanding performance.
 At the end of competition, Barangay won Special award Best in Diyandi won cash
Buruun, pocketed P100,000.00 and a trophy, also prizes of P12,500.00.
