Viewers,Returned Turkish-Syrian earthquake, at least six people died and people trapped
under rubble Minister of Health, Fahrettin Koca, said 294 people were injured and 18 of
them were seriously injured. It is estimated that the death toll this time will be relatively low
because the quake occurred in an area that has been largely evacuated by residents.
Previously, a seven point eight magnitude earthquake hit the same area on February 6,
leaving more than 44,000 people dead in Turkey and Syria. Witnesses told Reuters news
agency that there was increasing damage to buildings in Antakya. And the mayor of Hatay,
in southern Turkey, said people were trapped under the rubble. As a result of this
earthquake there was fear and panic among the people on the streets. A convoy of
ambulances and rescue teams are trying to reach some of the worst-affected areas. In the
area, the walls of a number of buildings which had been badly damaged by the first
earthquake on 6 February, have collapsed, including a bridge.
