Smart textiles can be defined as textiles able to sense and react to environmental conditions and

external stimuli (e.g., mechanical, thermal, and chemical stimuli) thanks to a number of sensors
incorporated in the textiles.

Depending on their use, smart fabrics are created by fusing together fibers and technology. These
fibers include conductive yarns and polymers, shape memory polymers, encapsulated phase change
