Cardiac scanning
Up until 2016 one of the only approved contrast imaging was left ventricular opacification (LVO).
This id useful in the delineation of endocardial borders. As of today the current contrast agents
consist different types of microbubbles. These are useful in tracking movement of RBCs in the
heart.

Liver scanning
In 2016 the FDA approved the first agent for non cardiac application (for the United States). This
was Lumason, it is used for the focalization of liver lesions for pediatrics and adults. However,
compared to Asia focal liver lesion has been a routine practice for many years and is still being
studied.
