Week 04 - Task: Assignment

E1 – José Abelardo Quiñones Gonzáles

José Abelardo Quiñones

Gonzáles, one of the National

Heroes of Peru. He was a

famous Peruvian aviator,

named the best fighter pilot of

the year 1939.

He was born on the 22nd of April 1914 in Pimentel, close to the city of Chiclayo. He was

the son of José María Quiñones Arizola and María Juana Rosa Gonzáles Orrego.

José Quiñones died in action on July 23rd in 1941, at the age of 27, during the Peruvian

War with Ecuador, in Tumbes, when he decided to sacrifice his life by crashing into the

enemy target.

For that reason, I admire him; first, because it fulfilled its mission of protecting and

recovering the border that had been taken; and second, because despite having

already fulfilled his duty and having the option to save his life, engulfed in flames, he

decided not to use his parachute and headed his aircraft towards the enemy, crashing

and destroying them completely.

E2 – San Martín de Porres

San Martín de Porres Velázquez o San Martín de

Porras Velázquez, one of the most popular saints in

Latin America and Peru.

He was born on 9th of December 1579 in Lima, Peru. He

was the illegitimate child of Don Juan de Porres, a

Spanish nobleman and Ana Velázquez a freed black

woman from Panama, whose family had been African

slaves. His father did not legally recognize him until he

was a teenager.

San Martín died on November 3rd in 1639, at the age of 59, in Lima because of an

illness, but at no time did he lose his faith and at all times he incited the union.

I admire him because he was a friend to all living creatures. He performed many

miracles, for example, he was said to have the gift of bilocation, that is to say, he could

be in several places at the same time, and this gift he used to visit missionaries who

were in difficulty or to cure the sick. In addition, from a very young age, he was very

supportive, always supporting others, giving what he didn't have because he lived a

very poor life. For all this, I admire Saint Martin de Porres.
