TAB Reaction Prompts

Write a brief paragraph about your reactions to the TAB experience you went through in class.
Answer the following questions to the best of your ability...
The TAB project I chose to do was ‘Mixed Media.’ I chose to do this one because I am a crafty person
and I knew I had a variety of items in my home that I would be able to use to create something. I started
by watching the videos that were listed on D2L. Once I was done doing that, I went to my craft
cupboard and started pulling random items out that I could potentially use. When I got all the materials
back to my desk, I began looking through everything more intense to see what my brain could come up
with. As I was going through one of my scrapbook papers book, I found a page that had glittery
headstones on it. Yep, I am going to make a graveyard. FAR from what my original thought was of
using the different fabrics to make a sky, grass, and flowers.
1.) How did the TAB experience effect you as a learner?
This TAB experience affected me as a learner because I was able to use what I had access to, but also
be able to exhibit what skills I have. This also provided me with the want to challenge myself and do
more than just something easy that I know I could do.
2.) What are the strong points to a TAB based classroom/lesson set up? What are the down
sides?
Strong points to a TAB based classroom is that this can encourage students to get better at skills they
may already have, fine tune them if you will. Another strong point is that this doesn’t restrict the
creative process all students have within them. Some down sides are that students may just focus on
the one thing they are good at without trying anything new, and some students may feel overwhelmed
without the guidance of what to do.
