POSTER

A poster is a quick and effective means of communication.


It should be brief with a strong visual and eye catching element.
It is usually displayed in a public place and is created to disseminate some
information to the general public.

Features of a good poster :


1. Brief and to the point
2. Only necessary and relevant information
3. No irrelevant matter
4. Should catch one’s attention
5. Capital letters, bold fonts should be used
6. Catchy phrases, slogans and attractive language

A poster may be of 2 kinds :


1] For creating awareness about an issue
● Details about the theme
● nature/effects of the problem
● Solutions to the problem
● Issuing authority

2] For announcing an event


● Name of event and organisers
● Purpose of event
● Date , time, venue
● Highlights/ attractions of the event
● Entry by tickets/passes
● Any other relevant information
● Contact details
EXAMPLE : Draft a poster on behalf of Kolkata Police cautioning people not to
touch any unclaimed object.
