WMSU IPIL – CRIMSON FESTIVAL 2023

QUIZ BOWL GUIDELINES & MECHANICS

1. The contest is open to all students enrolled in WMSU Ipil during the 2 nd semester of academic year
2022-2023.
2. Each team is composed of three (3) students (all females, all males, or the combination of both).
3. During the contest proper, the following materials are to be used and be provided by the organizing
committee:
 Whiteboard
 Markers
 Eraser
4. The questions will range from General Information, Social Science, General Science, Language,
Mathematics, Sports & Entertainment, and Current Events.
5. The contest will have three (3) rounds. The EASY, AVERAGE, and DIFFICULT round. There will be
ten (10) questions for the EASY round, seven (7) for the AVERAGE round, and five (5) for the
DIFFICULT round.
6. Coaching from the audience is strictly prohibited.
7. For every correct answer in the EASY round, the contestants will receive one (1) point, two (2) points
for the AVERAGE, and three (3) points for the DIFFICULT round.
8. The quizmaster shall read each question twice. After the second reading, shall say the word “GO”, only
then the contestants shall begin writing their answers on the writing boards provided. The time
allotment is ten (10) seconds for regular questions and twenty (20) seconds for questions that need
computation.
9. After the time limit and the sound of the buzzer, the contestants will automatically stop writing, and
shall raise their answers.
10. Any protest or appeal regarding the preceding question, will be entertained before the quizmaster
proceeds to the next question.
11. For each team to advance in the Average Round, a team shall have garnered five (5) points or more.
12. For each team to advance in the Difficult Round, a team shall have garnered twelve (12) points or more.
In case of a tie, a clincher round will follow.
13. The winners will be declared as 3rd runner-up, 2nd runner-up, 1st runner-up, and Quiz Bowl Champion
and will receive a Certificate of Recognition and corresponding points according to the general
point/scoring system of the WMSU Ipil – Crimson Festival 2023.
 Quiz Bowl Champion – 25 points
 1st Runner-up – 20 points
 2nd Runner-up – 15 points
 3rd Runner-up – 10 points
14. The committee and judges have the right to disqualify any contestant who will violate the rules of the
contest.
15. The decision of the judges is final and irrevocable.
