Group Activity 2: Earthquake Hazard Map Analysis


“Earthquakes alone don’t injure or kill people. It is our practices at home, in school, in the workplace or
outside that could hurt or injure us and others.” Unlike any other disasters, earthquakes are unpredictable. It
is important to be aware of certain hazards that we are prone to for us to be ready or conduct mitigation
measures to decrease some possible harmful effects.

Instructions:
1. Visit https://bit.ly/39IFL3M “Earthquake Hazard Maps - Phivolcs – DOST” or the PHIVOLCS site.
2. Follow the instructions written on the page. (Note: Choose the municipality/city where you are currently
residing. Mark check only the hazards under earthquake.)
3. Download all the hazard maps presented (earthquake-induced landslide, ground rupture, ground shaking,
liquefaction, tsunami etc.).
4. Using the hazard maps, identify the hazards likely to affect your community (home). Use the table below.
